I spent the afternoon on the mtn. bike out at the historic Goodan Ranch property in Poway, CA. near my home.
The old buildings were destroyed in the 2003 Cedar fire, but it's still a fun place to visit and be in the outback so close to home. I think most locals don't really know about it so I'm posting it up.
There is even a bike trail that will take you all the way south to Santee. It's called the "Western Trail". So if you live down that way, you could even just hop on your bike and head north to the site. Kinda cool!

"The Sycamore Canyon Open Space Preserve and Goodan Ranch offers 20 miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails and can be reached via the staging area off Sycamore Canyon Road in Poway, seven days a week 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. or through the Highway 67 gate, Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m."
Too bad it all burned down. I got to see this before it burned.
