The Whole Story, a KJ Build...

So I took a little trip up to Big Bear Lake with some friends on May 31st. I happened across this Awesome Jeep shop and thought I'd get some work done on my rig...

Once the Jeep got into the shop, the dismantling began...

Once that was done, the new stuff was installed. Some of the new stuff required some extra clearance and needed cutting...

Did I mention I got the latest version of Jeepin' By Al's A-Arms??? See next post for more detailed pix of the arms.

So while at All Js I had the Frankenlift Premium II kit installed, a transmission service done, and the MOPAR skids (- the gas tank) installed.

I had a great time while I was there ******** chatting with Quinn, Mike, and Mark (I hope the other guys name was Mark, I can't honestly remember unfortunately). OF COURSE talking with Heather was/is always a pleasure. It was also good to meet a bunch of other LOST members at a BBQ in Sugarloaf later that same day.

THANKS AGAIN ALL Js!!!!!!

The above photo is fuzzy, but notice the boot does not contact the coil or anything else. There is a small portion of the arm that makes contact with the coil just behind the silver nut closest to the coil, that nut is what helps secure the Moog ball joint in place.

Another angle...

As it sat after 2 test runs and some minor banging around, the front settled down considerably since the first time it was off the lift.

They are incredible. the true test will start this weekend though when I go to Moab for the week to test everything out, should be an experience. Thanks for complimenting the rig.

Sharp looking rig. I get about 13.5mpg in my lifted Rubicon, my wife gets about 21+ in her 1WD Liberty. What's a lifted 4WD Liberty with a roof rack get?

Hey Scott,
Congrats on the Franky. It is so much better than that spacer lift you had. Take a lot of pictures in Moab for those of us stuck back here in Memphis.

Well today the build was continued with a couple of purchases. I visited Sierra Expeditions website and purchased an Engel 45 fridge to be installed where the smaller of the 2 split rear seats are as well as the slide lock and transit bag for it. I also purchased an ARB Awning for the side of the rig to provide shade when stopped on the trails here in Southern AZ and CA and also when I make it up to Moab again.

The fridge will have a custom mount to sit in where the smaller rear seat was located and there will also be custom mounted ammo cans for storage of smaller loose items I may have in the Jeep. I also got 2 pairs of Quik Fists Clamps to mount a shovel and ax or another item perhaps.

Tomorrow I will continue the purchases as I will be upgrading from 3.73 geared axles to buying 4.10 gears and rebuild kits for the front D30a and the Chysler 8.25 rear I have. Then after about 3-4 months I'll purchase the lockers needed for both axles and then in another 3-4 months get it all installed at once.

So, as seen above, the pictures will continue once the building commences with the receiving of the new components. I may even get a new roof basket, but we'll see how the current one holds up, it should, and better.

Looks great, Thank you for sharing those pics. How do you like the Frankenlift? I'm leaning towards the Old Man Emu lift.:smiley_drive:

Well Dude, where the locker install pics?!?!? :bike_rider:

I was on the Moab trip and the only time this KJ had trouble was a BIG rock ledge with small boulders in front of it. The KJ just couldn't quite flex that far. With a rear locker he would have made it. I was very impressed where this little beast will go. Can't wait to see pics of the fridge install. I used to carry a cheapie in my truck but my LJ just doesn't have room.

That's crazy that you got all that work done on a whim whilst coincidentally running into a shop on an outing

Looks good man :costumed-smiley-007
