A little boredom and black paint

Hey thanks everyone Im really happy with how it turned out. I used rustoleum wheel paint and it worked extremely well just be careful not to spray on too heavy. I also purchased a rack that goes over the truck bed for a roof top tent (Thanks Jeremy!)which I just coated in the same paint and looks awesome. I will upload some pics tomorrow

SWEET! That is a fine looking rig and getting better all the time!

I would still vote on ditching the badges all together. All of 'em! Would take the 'purpose look' to a whole new level. I'm no good at photoshop but I'll try to fix up one of your shots provided you don't mind and have any interest.

Are you going to paint the front grill surround the same as the rack?

I think it could look good without the badges as I am going for the purpose look. I will be painting the grill this week probably but Its going to take me a solid day im guessing to sand the chrome off

I would not bother sanding the chrome off the grill - unless it is metal (doubt seriously) you are likely to do more damage than help. A good coat of primer will likely be all you need. I took my land cruiser wheels to the car wash, scrubbed them, and when they dried I shot them with two coats of Rustoleum Satin. Sounds like a hack job, but they look great and while I could have over done the prep, it was not necessary.

Here are a couple ideas of how it could look sans badges - forgive my lack of skills. A heat gun and a little patience will likely do the job if so desired.

I like how that looks I think I will get to that this weekend. I also had someone suggest I turn the white letters inwards which could look good

Here it is sans the white letters - I'm generally anti-white side out, but somehow on your rig it looks OK. Once again, forgive my feeble photo hacking:

Had extra money after books and I just got a new job so I figured why not!

So I had to take the tent off the rack alone so I could work on it. After crushing myself underneath it the first time I decided I would need another person to get it back on. I had to drill new holes and re mount the cross bars to fit the new tent but I finally got it together and had one of my buddies drive out to help get it on. Sorry for it looking somewhat rumpled I didnt have the back tied down.

Good Color Scheme!

I'm new to the site..
Once again bro, Very, Very Nice Rig!
My colorado is victory red & to help tone it down a bit, I'm approaching it the
same way by de-chroming the glary, reflective/ shiney pieces.
I want more of a "Mil-Spec" effect as well.
