A little LOST in AZ

2010 AZ LOST Fun in the Sun Run weekend is in the books. Some ran out to the Coke Ovens area for the day, while I showed a couple fellas the Ajax Mine / Telegraph trail over to Superior. Here's some randomness I took in no particular order:

Can you elaborate on what the Stump Game is??

Stump is a drinking game (what isn't?). I'm assuming they had alcohol in Antarctica. I'm assuming they NEED alcohol in Antarctica.

Grab a stump of some sort. Ernie brought this monster strapped to his roof rack. No, it's not from Antarctica. I asked.

Each person playing gets a nail, and there's one in the middle. They don't need to have double heads. Set each nail about the same depth so they are firm.

Normal hammer, or ball peen? Too easy. Grab a welder's hammer/pick thing. Note one end is a 1" chisel. Use that. We elaborated on the procedure thusly: When handed the hammer, you must flip it up so it rotates once and you re-grab it by the handle. If you drop it (and at some points you will), you drink.

Anyway after the flip you immediately swing for your nail. You get one shot. If you miss you begin to create the horseshoe shaped divot around the nail, and you pass it to the right. If you hit it square everyone else drinks and you get to go again (beginning with a new flip). If there are sparks then everyone drinks and you pass it to the right. Social!

As soon as your nail is sunk to the top level of the stump, you start going at the middle nail. First person to sink the middle nail wins.

It took us three hours to finish the game. There may have been breaks for tequila shots. I don't really remember. Anthony bowed out mid game (wisely). I lost. Ernie won. Let's just say we didn't stay up very late afterwards.
