A shocking Rancho report and plea for other shocks (Sachs?)

Well it was only about 10 months and about 12k miles (all onroad) when I noticed that one of my rear Rancho 9000s was leaking oil, so I decided to stomp on my brakes while coming to a stop and watch the truck bounce up and down 2x times before settling......So much for those..... Ride quality deteriorated slowly so I really don't know exactly how long they lasted. Of course they are not covered by warranty as they're not indicated for use on this vehicle (stock 2007 Fuso FG 140 incidentally, running only a steel flat bed at 9950#)

I've heard similar fragility stories with some of the Bilstein 5100s in similar use.....Plus I can't figure out which Bilsteins 5100s to use because of the convoluted info on the forum here.....Monroe/Gabriel allegedly once had a listing (per local Fuso dealer) but that is no longer true.

Does anyone know of a heavy shock that will work? Currently I'm pursuing a rumor that Sachs makes something though the FG is not listed on their site...

Try brad at Kings Shocks in Loganholme. They will build anything you need, the warranty and particularly the after sales service fantastic. Not cheap but if you want cheap go for something that will fail.

Find out the application for your Rancho shock, then call them back, tell them it was on that type of vehicle and have them warranty it.

What is the application of the shock you used? Is it possible it is valved for a very light vehicle?

The RS9000s I bought weren't for a specific vehicle, they were just listed as a certain length. I have only driven up and down the road a bit so far so I can't really judge how well they work. Similar sized Kings were $600+ each. We'll see.

Thats a big statement, everything will fail even Kings. I know Brad personally & I have know issue with the product but Rancho's & Oztec are going to be in the same price point & after using Oztec on my on trucks for 15years after coming from Billies they are an awesome shock with a lifetime warranty. Oztec are currently getting fitted to adventure truck coming out of a factory on the Sunshine Coast & that is good enough for me.

I use powerdown adjustable shocks. they are reasonably large bore and are designed for larger vehicles. they ride reasonably well on my otherwise stock standard NPS and have got 10000kms on them so far and no sign of deterioration or leakage etc. cost me around $100 each.

I've sorta tried that...it appears they've changed all the part numbers and I can't locate a list cross referencing old to new....and I'm assuming they did that precisely because of that reason.....(ps I'm a former Porsche mechanic, Toyota Service manager, MAC Tool Dealer and even a stint as a parts guy as a kid)
As to the original application, I'm not certain but did see a listing (w/ the old number) for a Bronco and a Ford F-150.....I bought them on the basis of the info posted here on the forum only....The choices for these really are scant....

Seems extremely unreasonable to deny warranty if it's listed as universal. Unless there is a disclaimer for the specific vehicle you have.

The ones I used were gleaned from a members post here on an older model FG (2001 or 2004 as I recall)....I cross referenced the stock shocks to confirm they were the same, so the Ranchos I ended up using were the 999117 (front) and the 999113 rears. Extended and collapsed lengths were approximately 12-18" respectively w/ travel of about 6.3"........ I'm about to pick up a full set of Sachs shocks from Tony Baker up in Calgary.....Outwardly, it appears that only one of the ones listed as "universal" could be used (999342)....
