Friggen sweet!

Thanks! Hard to believe it was shot with this little POS right? This is the same camera that Rusty-Ford got.

In my former life I used to fix instrumentation for Thiokol. They invited me to watch a booster test on one of my visits. Very cool stuff. Same exact location.

:Wow1:

Very cool Michael. When I saw this on the news I wondered if this was the one you were able to photo.

An interesting tidbit of info. Thiokol started building ski resort equipment and sno-cats, which they later sold to DMC, as in the Delorean Motor Company so they could focus on building toys for NASA. I think they made a smart move ;)

And...don't forget...they also stayed out of the 'Coke' business...IFKWIM...

I'm just sayin'! :Wow1:

LOL, I do know what you mean. But he beat those charges, sadly enough the company still hit the dirt. There is a new outfit running Delorean now, based in Texas building new DMC-12's and restoring older ones. How crazy is that?

Sorry for the hijack, stoked you were able to get in on this test. Just how loud was it?

Yes, it's the Ares I first stage solid fuel engine. It's going to make one heck of an expedition vehicle! :)

Next test is an actual flight to try out a full first stage lofting a simulated second stage. It goes on Oct. 31.

Space.com for a little video.
