A Sony Nex-7 Rolling Review

I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the NEX7. I had hoped that Nikon would do something like this but instead they came out with the 1 system. Oh well maybe I can find a way to use my Nikon lenses on the NEX platform lol

Thanks guys, that moves the NEX further up the scale in my book. The weight difference and space savings could really be useful with the right lens combo.

I read a very long review about the NEX 7 and it has grabbed my interest. Being able to use some Leica M lenses I still have (with an adapter) is one attraction, but overall the system looks very nice. Not many negatives, but not inexpensive either.

I'm new to cameras and trying to learn, but now that I'm getting into more adventures, I'd like to start remembering and sharing them better. I'm seeing some decent deals out there on the Nex-5 series. Am I losing much by going with that as apposed to the 7? Any quick basic info. you guys can share would be great! THANKS!

Well first off there's the NEX-5 & NEX-5N. Supposedly significant difference between the two. I won't go into detail but read the 5n reviews. Most go into the differences.

The 7 seems to be designed for an advanced shooter who wants/needs full manual control w/ an easier interface than the 5/5n models. The 7 adds an electronic view finder, flash hotshoe, and two mode dials which IMHO are all very good additions to what the 5N has among other upgraded areas. It also uses a 24MP sensor which I'm not sure how good it is since each photo site (pixel) will be much smaller which means less light gathering ability which can mean poorer low light performance. Is it worth nearly 2x the cost ($1399 for the body + 18-55mm lens versus $699 for tha same lens with the 5N)? Only your wallet can make that call for you...
