A year with the 2015 Ram Power Wagon

Everyones personal truck gets 100mpg going 100mph uphill. I think truck trends estimates are right on. I've had quite a few 3/4 ton gas trucks, none of them ever get good mileage.

Nope My 2007 F150 averages 11-13 MPG I drive highway and city. It is a pig and the long range tank comes in handy. IT was a custom order from the factory by the PO so i have found out and has a number of features not available off the lot.

Towing I would be lucky to get 7-10. My old F350 early 6.0 Diesel was not much better.

Yeah. They must use a heavy foot and crappy gas. I've averaged 18mpg on a couple different road trips with my 2016 PW. I get 10 to 12 wheeling around mountains.

I've got a 2014 2500 with 6.4, 3.73 gears and 35's. I average around 13-14 but like you mine is capable of getting 18 on a long trip if I keep my foot out of it. The 6.4 really is a great motor and fairly economical for a big block v8.

This is straying from the topic at hand, but you have me wondering how your F150 is spec'd.

The guys "testing" a truck that they didn't pay for, with gas that they are not paying for, are not driving with economy in mind.

This is why I think the ecodiesel is a great setup for somebody who drives a lot and needs a truck. With that said, there's some places a 1500 Ram won't go that my fairly stock Power Wagon does. I haven't needed my lockers much, but when I do they are worth their weight in gold. Plus I only average around 8,000 miles a year, so fuel economy is the least of my concerns.

Very true...If I was going to wheel it and do serious things I would toss some lockers and armor her up...probably a 4in lift and some 37...good quality shocks and never look back...

Ive been wheeling so long that Ive seen the values of factory outfitted rigs (Rubicon,Raptor) and the value of buying a relatively stock setup and upgrading the parts aftermarket cheaper and better than the dealer...

as long as we are enjoying...thats all that matters!!

hmm my Toyota Landcruiser 4.2 Diesel had on our 3.5year overland trip about 14-15mpg average with 8000lbs, never faster than 50mph (otherwise mileage went down fast!) and 130HP that made you feel even hills you didn't see. I think 10-12mpg for a 3x stronger car is not too bad?!

My pop's old F350 (~'87 I think) was getting 8mpg solid. So comparatively, the PW isn't bad. But that won't make the gas costs easier to swallow. Especially when the gas prices go up.
