AA/AAA battery charger for my 110

Hi Everyone,

I just bought a new flashlight for my truck. Im going to mount it using Quick Fist mounts, next to the fuse panel on the transmission tunnel in my Defender 110.

the flashlight is a beast and uses 8 AA batteries.
I think im going to order a 8 port AA/AAA Ni-MH/Ni-CD battery charger from B&H photo....its a pro quality charger....powered @ 12vlts. Car charger included.
Hell its also 110/220. Perfect to use in the house then velcro it back in the truck for Expeditions.

I figure...almost all my portable electronics use AA's its the perfect accessory for my truck.

So, ... what do you all think about a AA/AAA charger for my 110 ?
Has anyone else mounted one ?

thanks in Advance and Shalom,

rob

We dont have one hard mounted, but we do have a 4 AA battery charger that we keep in the truck that we run off of a hardwired 400watt inverter

We use it non-stop because like you said, just about everything these days uses AA batteries

I think its a great idea and the velcro would be good to bring it from house to truck so you can use it in both

id suggest going with a 600W inverter (incase you decide you want to run something else off of it) bolt it somewhere where you get some good airflow to avoid heat and/or fires. then simply wire up your charger somewhere convienent. ive seen some pretty cool setups where people have set up battery chargers that are form fitted into interior paneling.

This AA charger runs on 12volts....no inverter needed. :wings:

Speaking about inverters...i just found a perfect place to mount an inverter.
It will be for general duties....laptop etc...but mostly to recharge my 18volt tools.

Ive thought about air powered tools but....the whole Makita kit uses the same batteries and if i can charge them in the the truck....i have my shop with me....and huge capabilities.

thanks for your replies.

Great minds!

Hey Rob,

I just saw this. Did you get the charger from B&H?
If not, I've got a source that has about ten different 12v chargers, some of them are dual voltage and will work on 110 too.

Who did you buy the light from?

Guess what? I just won a GAW on the U*N for a BlackHawk Night-Ops Sentinel PL1-AA LED:victory: Too cool!

I've been thinking of getting away from 123s and switching to AAs.
I can charge them any where...

BTW - I've got an 18v DeWalt set up with about eight different tools and six batteries in the Jeep great minds indeed :sombrero:

Hey bro...no i havent bought anything yet. I was supposed to visit FLA in a week and the trip got canceled. I always time my purchases with my trips. Import Taxes here are ridiculous....starting @ 45% !!!
Ill definitely be heading to the USA in January for the SHOT SHOW.

Sources ? hit me with them ! :) ill check them out.

Switching over from 123's....me too. Since ive moved out to the country, i use my Surefires everynight. And even though i have a good supply of 123's, ive been burning though 2 a week in my L4. Replacement costs locally are 10$ each.

The TK-40 is a brute .....from the reviews ive seen, it will be perfect to mount in the truck w/ a few Quickfists. Surefire makes the new LED M3 thats comparable...but to leave a 600$ flashlight in my truck...makes me paranoid. And as you probably can understand...im already paranoid about the security of my truck.

Inverter for my tools.....absolutely ! I really dig the air tool setups....but to me, its an overly complicated system for my needs. Sure i will have air capabilities in the truck.....but IMHO, cordless tools are so much easier. I cant afford 2 sets of tools. One set for the truck and one the house. So if im packing for a trip...i just throw the Makita bag in the truck and im done. Also for security reasons...if i stay at a hotel, i can take my Eagle A3 pack with my computer and electronics, and the tool bag inside with me.

bottom line.....AA's power most of my electronic gizmos and to "hard-mount" a professional quality charger makes sense to me. I put hard-mount in quotes because i think im going to just mount it with 3m Dual Lock tape. Probably just 2 little squares....that stuff is incredible.

Stay in touch brotherman.

Here's a decent source for batteries and chargers

http://www.batteryjunction.com/

I use their 123 batteries in my Surefire, Fenix, and Jettbeam flashlights. They don't last quite as long as the Surefire batteries, but they last at least 80-85% as long and they're only $1 each instead of about $2 each for the Surefire batteries (when you buy a 12-pack).

I've also used their rechargeable Titanium batteries with great success.

Here's the charger I use.

This charger looks a lot like the one you posted from B&H.
