ABS issues with new Hub bearing assembly on SK conversion with F350 front end

Recently had to do a new hub/bearing assembly on my drivers side, ever since the replacement coming to a slow stop trips the ABS on the drivers side (the one replaced). I believe the speed sensor is the problem but am having troubles figuring out a fix. Anyone ever run into this before? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

So under decel at around 20 the ABS kicks in and starts pulsing? I have seen this, did you re use the existing ABS wire? The wire supplied with the new unit bearing will need to be spliced in. Should solve the problem. When you have them both out there should be a difference in height.

Chris,
ABS is kicking in right about the time I am about to stop (under 5 MPH). I used the existing one that was originally spliced in by SK and later used the one that was supplied with the new bearing, but they seem to be 2mm difference than the passenger side??? Could it be I was sent the wrong hub/bearing assembly or is there a way to get a shorter speed sensor? The mechanic I've been sending it to is stumped also, even had him contact Craig Jackson formerly with SK and came up empty. In the meantime I have just pulled the ABS fuse. Thanks for the input.

Where did you get the unit bearing from? Sounds like you need to find a wire with the same depth as the old one/other side. I had the same issue on a Quigley that we re did recently. Switched to the new wire that came with the unit bearing and it was fixed.

Thanks Chris,
Mechanic got it from his supplier? Any idea on where to find one or is this something the supplier should have? Sorry for the lack of knowledge on this.

There are a lot of brands out there, from cheap $150 units up to what I consider normal, about $300-350. What year did he source the bearing from? You guys need to order all of the different unit bearings that have the same studs and measure all of the sensors until you get a match!

I was charged by the mechanic for a wheel bearing hub assembly front 4wd brake ABS # 515020 for $424.50 which was the more expensive out of the options he gave me (in hopes of higher quality). He sourced it from a 2001 F350 Super Duty 4WD. Thanks again

Looking at prices on the internet for this part makes me think I took it in the shorts on the part. It looks like Timken or National Bearings & Seals make this part #

Ok, no problem. I just checked all of the possible part #s for that wheel stud and the 515020 covers all of them except the DRW trucks which have a shorter stud. So, I'd narrow it down to a defective unit from the start, or S/K has mixed and matched something.

Chris,
I gave your number to my mechanic, I hope thats OK. But we are a bit stumped on how to fix this ABS problem. Thanks again for all your help.
