Accelerator pedal response issue

Have a 00 DII, and until last week it would take off like a shot from a dead stop. The accelerator pedal felt tight and very responsive to the touch, meaning very little pressure required to get things moving. Last week was helping friend move and if memory serves thought I felt a pop or something like it when I pressed the pedal. Now it is very mushy and really wants to take it's time accelerating. Any thoughts or words of wisdom?

check the springs on your throttle valve. I only know the D1 has three, check the rave for d2

also check transmission kickdown cable.. Oh wait the d2 is electronically controlled?

The plugs and wires are relatively new with in the 10k mile range, should they be checked that soon. As for the throttle cable is concerned it hasn't changed since I picked it up, but upon further inspection and comparing with the RAVE manual it was quite out of spec and has been adjusted accordingly. I have also change the air filter and am going to replace the fuel filter as soon as I can locate it. Having a hard time finding it in the manual and haven spent a lot of time under the rig to try and find it yet. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
