Active Trac Speed Limitation

Does anyone have any experience running in Active Trac at highway speeds? When I've needed mine it has been for slippery conditions so never really over 55-60mph.
I'm considering building a rally truck using a gen 2.5 and I'm wondering if extended runs on gravel at higher speeds is ok in that mode. Or for that matter just logging a lot of hours in Active Trac.

I can't speak for the Gen 2.5, but I've had my '02 Gen 3 engaged for a few months with no issues while waiting to replace my solenoid. My commute is about 25 miles all highway at 80mph. It operates just like any other full-time 4WD/AWD vehicle in my opinion and I really didn't notice it.

What is 'in Active Track'? 4H? 4HLc? There's no speed limit on 4H and there isn't on 4HLc either, iirc. There's speed limits on the rear differential and being in low range, though.

The Montero is a rally bred truck, It would prefer to be in AWD (4Hi) and doesn't care how fast you go or how long you go for. Maybe 2 weeks straight under wide open throttle combined with shock loads of landing from a jump could break it in some. Probably work better after that.

I've shifted in around 45 and drove for many miles in awd (4 high, open center diff) at speeds up to 60, AWD is great for full throttle donuts in parking lots, mitsu know's how to make some AWD stuff handle high speeds

No limits I know of, except for what the little engine that could will keep you moving at. Thats the point of AWD. That being said dont even think about it with miss matched tires or tire sizes.

I always keep my Gen III at 87 mph or less.

Cuz, you know, at 88 mph the flux capacitor starts sparking.

Kept my gen2's superselect in 4hi (center diff unlocked) for months at a time in winter, when I had it. Its a viscous couple similar in principal to an automatic transmission's torque converter, so no harm in running it full time, as long as you're not running mag wheels/tires on the back, or something silly like that...

But really, Adam's answer is my favorite. "broken in". Love it. Flux capacitor is close second. LOL.
