Adding cargo tie down points?

Has anyone here added cargo tie-down points to their vehicle? If so, what did you use?
.
My 4runner had 4 tie downs in the cargo compartment and I could use an additional two points where the seats anchored to the body when the seats were flipped down, but my new-to-me GMT-800 Suburban only seems to have to tie down points near the lift gate.
.
One thing I'm considering is just getting a sheet of 4 x 8 plywood, bolting some tie downs to that and then sliding it in to the back of the 'Burb. I can't think of any way to "anchor" the sheet but if it was loaded down with stuff, I'm not sure that would be needed. What are the thoughts on that?

Hey Martin, How about some careful measuring of the cargo area then use the same measurements under the truck... you might then be able to thru bolt them if you get lucky. You could do the same for midship points thru the wheel well if you wanted to. stay safe. Michael

I've added them to several vehicles and am about to add some to my trailer.

I've used footman's loops, eye bolts, and various commercial tie-down systems - usually thru-bolted if any real load was to be placed on them.

For my trailer, I'm considering aircraft cagro track

Do you have the third row installed? If you remove the back seats, you can use the third row anchors.

Yes, also seat belt anchor bolts.

OP, attaching the anchor points to the plywood only has a risk of them pulling out and not securing the plywood can be similarly nasty under severe use or in an accident.

Pull up the carpet and I am sure you will find factory bolts that can be repurposed and places to drill through the sheet metal (use fender washers underneath).

I really like L-track. It's available in almost any length, from long runs:

to a variety of short pieces:

Different types of hardware connectors are available. Super-strong, used not only for cargo tie-downs in trucks and aircraft but also for wheelchair vans, where they pass rigid DOT & ADA crash tests.

Before I got my drawers, I added additional factory Explorer tie down d-rings. I used big washers underneath the body to keep them from pulling through.

New points are center and 3 across the top of the picture.
