Quick question which I may be answering as I type...I am adding a foldable solar panel to my Genesis dual battery setup. Planning on SAE plugs (or larger gauge if reccomended) for the temporary connection. I will likely aslso build a few lengths of cable so that I can park in shade and run the panel out to the sun (having multiple lengths of cable so that I can minimize loss in amperage if possible).
The Genesis system uses a Cole/Hearse solenoid to connect the batteries when both are above 12.7v. There is a "jump start" button which will manually connect the batteries as well. It has a busbar that is connected to the house battery. I have all my accesories connected to the bus bar (fridge, furnace, winch (only used when engine is running), lights).
Should I run the battery wires from the controller directly to the bus bar? That seems to be the right way to do it.
