Wish we could have been there

Looks like we missed a great gathering. Maybe we'll be able to truck up to one sometime. I'm like others -- tend to shy away from group outings, especially the "typical" 4X crowd. But, this looks like th exception. Mario and Martyn are a class act. Heck, I'd just welcome camping for once where no one would come walking up to the campsite with that "what the hell is that?" look on their face. "Yes, I sleep up there.........that's a solar panel..........yes, it has electricity..........yes that's a water tank..........................":arabia:

May we all have a great summer with our rigs!

I agree, it looks like we missed a great event that was well organized with a solid group of folks sharing good times.

On your comment about people walking up to your campsite....that's why I camp so far off the beaten path that I seldom have people walking into my camp. :gunt:

To quote Lew Kingman who was in attendence: "It sure was nice not to have people asking "What's that?" for a change"

I had a great time meeting you guys and putting some faces to the names. Very nice event for the parts I attended. A great group of people, again it was a pleasure to meet all of you.

Man you have a lot of wires to put down in that tent.... I thought mine was wire-rific. My wife and I had a hell of a time setting up our cabelas tent the first night we were there, the wind was just crazy... it was fun, but frustrating.
Thanks for big rocks to tie off on and a shovel to burry the rocks with.

More like the rocks played with us! Unlike our local trails in Big Bear, Johnson Valley , etc. these rocks liked to move around, darn things wouldn't stay in one spot! :gunt:
Fun Stuff huh? :arabia:

Yep, normaly I don't go to that extreeme but there were thunderstroms coming in and didn't want to have to worry about it. :) Once staked down like that it can really handle some high winds with no problem.

A late thank you from me for all that helped to put this trip together especially Mario and Martyn. The entire event from start to finish was simply awesome, my kids and I had the greatest of times meeting with folks and enjoying the weekend.

Another thank you to everyone that was there, what a great group of folks! The best comment that can sum it up was made by a camper in the area that was not with our group.

There was a photographer camped in the same general area taking time lapse photos of the tuffa formations, sunsets and lake. I had a chance to speak with him as he was packing up his gear in the morning and he mentioned how nice of an experience it had been for him while he was in and around our camp.

I felt that a comment like that coming from a local that had seventy or so people set up camps all around him was very telling of the caliber of all present.

It has only been two weeks and I am ready to go back.

Article and Pictures

It's been almost two months since the Pyramid Lake Adventure. I have been holding back on putting anything out on the web until the article in JPFreek Magazine came out.

If you go to http://www.atreport.com/pyramidstory.html you will be able to download the complete magazine, or just the article itself as a pdf. I have added some of the pictures that didn't make it into the article. By the way although I get credit for most of the pictures in the article I didn't take any of them :wings: That honor belongs to all the AT owners who sent me copies of the pictures they took, thank you all.

Please click on the link to Equipt1.com at the bottom of the web page, I'm trying to make it up to Paul May after I screwed up and forgot to include his logo in the article. Sorry Mate!!

Hey Martyn-

Too cool, great right up and coverage of the event! I found myself relaxed and smiling after reading the article and wondering when is the next event???

Andrew

We are thinking about doing some regional events in various location across the country. Frank from JPFreek is looking into Big Bend National Park, Texas, this Spring for us.

We have a few criteria for locations and conditions:

The area has to be stunningly beautiful
The base camp has to offer alternative activities for none 4X4 types
The location must be a reasonable drive for those attending
We have to partner up with a local 4X4 shop of excellent reputation
A variety of 4X4 trails has to be easily accessible
Last but not least people have to appreciate my sense of humor!

There may be more conditions but I can't think of them right now.

Got any ideas?
