Aev Ram Front Bumper

Hey guys! I'm looking for people's experience with brush/grille gaurds on steel bumpers. I would like to put an AEV front bumper on my Ram. I like the idea of the full grille gaurd for animal strike protection, does anyone have any experience where that has actually helped? Any animal strike experience input would help!

I don't want a deer to be a trip ender for me. My old build had a high clearance bumper with no grille protection. I felt that a a deer or similar sized animal would probably just hit the body of the bumper and go under due to the truck hight. I would like to prioritize protection on the new build

The downsides for me are 1) I think it looks a little over the top and 2) it's $1600! Which is a whole lot for a few tubes.

Thanks!

The AEV bumpers are 2nd to none, have had a lot of AEV parts on my builds. Never had a deer strike with one though but I am sure it will hold up great.

It all depends where you live and how much night driving you do. When I lived back east I had hit 2 deer by the time I was 18. Out here in the west, while the animals are larger, I haven't had an issue in the last 15 years.

We have an EXP1 on the front of a ‘22 Ram 3500. Full bull bar setup. Hit a deer at roughly 50-55 mph. Barely scuffed the powder coating. Inspected for damage, ensured the deer was dead and not suffering, went on our way. That extra $ for protection paid for itself that night. No interruption of our trip, and zero body damage. Image being stranded somewhere remote in a snowstorm or something due to a busted radiator or intercooler. Being able to continue your journey could be lifesaving.

I’m sure that the AEV unit would be just as robust or better.

I always put bumpers on my trucks for protection and you can add a winch. They have saved my trucks more than once .
I use buck stop bumpers on my full size trucks and have had great luck.
Does AEV make a bumper for an 07?

If you are already in deep with a $2,867 bumper I can certainly see that $4,467 (before adding any other doodads AND shipping) is a hunk of change. If you have a local fabrication shop, you certainly could take some of the photos of the guard and see what they would charge to build you one. And maybe get it tailored to your specific needs.

I've been lucky, so far the only thing I have hit with my Power Wagon was a coyote ;)
