aev worth it?

I have seen accident reports and pictures of arb bumpers. but this is the first I have seen pictures of AEV with accident report. First off I love AEV's products. the fit and finish are second to none. I got lucky and got most of my AEV products second hand off craigslist. But they are worth full price in my opinion. I have the AEV bumper, hood, snorkel, and corner guards. I do not have the back bumper but wish I did. I have a steel bumper that is made of plate which is a great bumper. but being that the tire is still mounted to the tailgate, a rear ender there is no protecton still and the tailgate will get taken out as well as the rear glass. I wounder if I could retrofit my bumper with AEV tire holder? Humm

I would buy the rear bumper in a heart beat if I had the cash. so I guess I will have to run the risk. I do run a pintle hook in my bumper to try to stop a car before it gets to my tire though in the case of a rear ender.

I just put the Tire Carrier on last weekend with the stock rear bummper and I really don't see how with a little moding that it would not work with any after market bummper. you would just have to play around and see.

ARB has done fine by me (one on my TJ and one currently on my JK). The AEV is sweet, but I bought was a little steeper in price than the ARB.

Someone mentioned above that they wanted to mount a Hi-Lift on the AEV bumper. Here is a photo I took at SEMA back in Nov. And I believe they were weighing options on fuel can mounting.

As far as opinions on engineering and design, each brand has its own ideas, but AEV and ARB are two of the best on the market in terms of strength, airbag compatibility, and crash worthiness. Personal preference at that point.

Y know I gotta say, looking at hte compro pics that LuisJG posted.... They sure LOOK simillar to me. I'm not saying AEV coppied the ARB, but man do they look simillar.

Scott, having both at your disposal can you tell us is the AEV constructed in a MAJORLY different way to the ARB???

Like I said, Either way you go you can't go wrong eh...
Sounds like the OP got a SWEET present for his truck eh. Let's see some pics when they get mounted, but let try'n not test them in accidents eh ;)

BLASPHEMY:elkgrin:

Hey, that's ONE (ok the 2dr J8 Diesel would do it too...) Jeep compared to any number of Toyotas I'd drive over a Jeep in a heartbeat. That Overland is SO sweetly designed/executed. It's just amazing to me What even Jeep makes here and then wags in our faces before telling us we can't have one (as in the 2dr LWB J8 Diesel) between that and the 70 series Cruiser it's enough to make a poor boy leave his home (Course my 2nd home in Australia is NOT doing too well right now eh. - I lived in Bilo inland of ROckhampton where ALOT of the major flooding is going on... I can't even imagine my beloved Rocky underwater and destroyed. i sure hope the Criterion makes it. I'd like to have a place to stay and play guitar when I make it back home some day eh ;) )

Cheers

Worth It!

Bumpers - super worth it....the Elk fared a lot worse than my bumper.... even the rest of the car saw some damage, but the bumper was un-scathed.

AEV is awsome. but they have nothing for the XJ. i emailed them about that awhile back and one of the managers basically said "yea i know me and my son are building an XJ and the crappy part is i cant even put any of our products on it. but thats just the way it is..."

id love to be have a reason to buy from them :/ till then... ARB it is
