Here's a video that shows a rider dump his prize Africa Twin at low speed on a muddy British lane. The accident takes place at 7:15 of the video. Informative to watch two,then three people try to turn the bike around in a narrow V-shaped ditch.

And here's a second video of a low-speed laydown. This time the road is dry. The rider says gravel at the side of the road collapsed, and the rear wheel slipped down into the ditch. Riding two up, no one was hurt. But the pair do have a tussle getting the rider's foot out from beneath the bike. Accident at 25:15 of the video.

P.S. Handguards that come from factory are usually decorative anyways.
