Afrispoor Off Road Trailers

Has anyone had any experience with or knowledge of the Afrispoor Off Road Trailers. They are new in the US but have a very good reputation in South Africa and Australia. The website is afrispoor.com. Let me know what you think.

Hadn't heard of them before. Not much info on the site, but some good pictures. Seems like it could be a good option. They list 3 different model, but don't show differences between them?

I like all of the drawers but of course this restricts the things you can store in the trailer and I need room for two inflatable kayaks and I wonder if the top is wide enough. I could see this being the base for a really awesome unit with some cantilevered framing. I still think I like the Campa trailers the best.

is it me, or did that look like it took 5 people like an HOUR to deploy with all the guy lines and such?

Yes, I am affiliated with the company and not hiding that. However, I am not advertising or self promoting. I am asking what experienced off road trailer owner's opinions of the Afrispoor trailer are. I am not guiding or directing the conversation. I am not raving about it's attributes or features. Just standing back and listening to what you have to say. If you think it is a piece of junk then I am interested to know why.

My apologies if I misrepresented myself by not stating that in the post but I just wanted to get some honest opinions.

well, then why not start the thread with something like this

My company recently decided to carry this line of trailers. I would appreciate your opinions.

Instead you came here acting as if you found this through your research and looking at it as a possible purchaser.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't feel that I 'acted' like a purchaser, I just asked a question. Anyway, I have apologized and you are correct that I should have worded my question differently. So please let me start over...

My company has decided to assemble and sell the Afrispoor line of trailers in Florida. I would very much appreciate your expert opinions on it. I plan to use your feedback, suggestions and concerns, to develop a better product. Thank you

More (WAY more) details are needed on the specs. Height, weight, width, length, summary of all storage areas and their sizes. Suspension details, options for hub matching.

Take one to Overland Expo next month. Seriously, I don't care what else you have planned, if you miss Overland Expo, you are missing your market.

Better differentiation between the 3 sizes. no video on the web site.

I see two kinds of drawers in the photos. What's standard and what's optional?

does that nose box open fully? Lots of us have fridges that open from the end and I can't tell if that nose box would work.

Research more...

Riprod,

Research Safari trailers in the US. I think it would give you a great idea on how to make this endeavor succeed. They had a great product, I have one and love it, but didn't get to their target audience in time.

For the price on your website, you will need to be able to prove the trailer is worth the money. It's a tough time in the country to drop that kind of coin on a utility box and RTT.

I agree with others, be careful how you come off, it did appear in the first post you were researching the trailer, not looking for thoughts on them as a seller... you apologized.... just my 2 cents, but people are turned off quick when they feel they are being duped.

You asked for it, so here is my quick thoughts. The trailer box is small (looking at the tent over hanging it) and storage would be tight. The stove looks like the butane ones used overseas, but almost worthless here.

wow, thanks for your input. This is exactly what I was looking for.
I don't want to do a big sales pitch on here but to answer some of your questions so far.

I know the website needs a lot more info and we will have an update very soon with very detailed specs, videos and all options. We will be probably dropping the other 2 trailers and only starting with the Leopard.

The tent is modular, so the first sleeper area and room pops up in under 5 minutes. This gives you a queen sleeper on the roof and 1 room. The other 2 rooms are optional and take about 20 minutes for 2 people to setup. I am concerned about he guy wires for the space requirements and looking into other options.

The nose cone opens to about a 60 degree angle. It can unscrew but not detach completely. The fridge/freezer we sell with it is a 12v / 110v hybrid top loader that fits perfectly.

The size issue is the only difference between the different models. The Buffalo is a lot larger (no overhang on the tent potion). However, we have had the most interest from the medium sized Leopard. Easy, compact and a surprising amount of storage.

Some of the photos are from South Africa, so the gas stove is not the same as the propane unit it ships with here. This will be updated on the website soon.

One very big difference over other trailers that we have researched is that it is Stainless Steel. This increases the price but makes it extremely durable. We are not compromising on materials or quality but do realize that this may limit our market because it pushes the price up.

I am definitely going to book the Overland Expo... Thanks for that!
Please come by and see us. Any other shows you recommend ?

Yeah, in terms of all the improprieties I've seen on the net, this is way WAY down the list. Not a big deal. Let's move on.
