Aftermarket steel wheels for 3rd gen Taco

I am looking for a set of steel rims and everytime I find a set I like they say they will not work. Who is running aftermarket steel wheels and what are they. I would prefer no spacers but if absolutely necessary I guess I will have to

Yes I know aluminum weights less and way more options just prefer the steel.

Thanks

Any 16” wheel in 6 on 5.5 <should> work. What are they saying won’t work? Did Toyota change the hub bore size on 3rd gens? If that is in fact the case, you could always get a machine shop to open up the hub on some wheels if you find some you really love.

Are you just after the look of steel wheels?

There are a few steelie-looking alloys out there now:

Supposedly the calipers will hit with the way they punch out the holes.
As for why I want them there are a bunch of reasons. Love the old school look. If for some strange reason a bend a bead i can trail fix and not have the wheel break. (I know odds are small of it happening) Also the cost of aluminum wheels is CRAZY. $200+ per rim. I would be able to get 5 steel for the price of 2.5 aluminum

Get the FJ wheels and be done with it- just be aware the black finish will fade no matter what, I’d get them redone before you install them.

While I get where you’re coming from, that would more than double the cost of the wheels, and the OP seems like he wants to spend less money rather than more. The Duplicolor Wheel Paint is amazing stuff. Covers super easily, and doesn’t scratch quickly either.
