Aggressive mud tire for expedition travel

yeah that seems to be the more accurate story. I suppose it's that the interco factory is going out of business (which also made pitbull and other tires as well) Either way interco isn't going to be making any ltbs any time soon which is a shame...

Looks like I'll have to go with 255/85 km2s. At least they are well supported with a dealer network in Central America and I suppose chains aren't the worst thing in the world.

That could not be further from the truth:

Here is the story. A factory in Ohio by the name of Denman Tire Corporation has shut down and Denman was a major supplier of some of our tires. Denman also manufactured other tires of various brands that will also be affected. We anticipated something like this could happen someday so we diversify our production. It takes time to move equipment out of one factory to another but we have already started the process. We will experience shortages of some sizes and types but this will be temporary.

This factory has been caught up in the difficult economic situation the country is experiencing but everything at Interco is OK.

I sincerely appreciate your inquiry and welcome any future inquiries so we can keep the record straight. Since this news broke we have been humbled by the hundreds of phone calls and emails we have received from very concerned off-roaders and dealers.

Best wishes,

Here is my take from years of playing in mud...

I highly suggest looking into beadlock wheels or those Staun inserts. Airing down the tires will greatly increase the traction to any mud tire. Also bouncing in and out of muddy ruts with speed and low tire pressure will eventually de-bead a tire.
When i had beadlocks i found running 3psi in the dunes, 7psi in the mud, 10-12psi in the rocks was the perfect setup for my rig. Every tire reacts differently from differernt pressure.

A rear locker is a must. Either automatic or selectable lockers are fine for the rear. A limited slip diff or selectable locker up front will also be helpful.

I don’t recommend using chains in the mud. Sometimes it requires lots of tire spin to clean the mud off the tire and having chains hitting hidden rocks or stumps while at speed is just asking for trouble.
