if you do that, the cab will snap off your truck leading to your fiery, or first death, depending on your religious orientation..

happy now? haha :p
(tho since im no engineer, it may not count..)

I admire your testicular fortitude taking this one on, i've been wanting to have a go at it myself, along with a hydraulic tilt mech
The cab wont snap off, sorry to burst your bubble... instead i predict that you will wallow in your own awesomeness, that thing will ride like a dream.
Go S.A.!! (I was saying that all through MKR too)

Ok have hit first snag...but we shall prevail. Monroe have discontinued the cab shocks that i wanted to use and genuine inter ones are $400 ea. So I am designing a Airbag/shock module to fit between the chassis rails using Western Star gear. I am going to cut the bottom of the existing cab mounts and slide some square tube into the boxed sections.

I would like to put a new crossmember between the two new square tube mounts, anyone have any issues with me fixing the two rear cab mounts solidly together? Surely the cab won't twist that much!

I have absolutely no issues whatsoever with you doing whatever you want to your own truck. ;)
Sorry... I couldn't resist.

A hopefully more constructive response...
If I were doing this I would construct a nice solid area around each mount and tie them together with a bolted on section.
The best option would be to rivet the joining section to the mounts, but that is impractical, unless you have access to all of the right gear. Using bolts, opposed to welding, is the next best option.

may be time for a new wife:sport_box, mine loves it, (she's very understanding) and the kids beg to go for a ride in it:)
don't forget to take pics and post as you go, it may be something my dual cab needs to have done too if it all works out for you.

This wifes a keeper, truck hating and all.

Just got the air bags off a western star truck, i will inflate them tomorrow to see how far they billow then make some new mounts.

my spine is tingling with anticipation!!!

Where are all there engineers telling me that the cab will snap off my truck, leading to my first death?

There are downsides that nobody has mentioned - and that is if you make your ride too comfy, there is a tendency to drive a bit faster on bad roads than previously, and that really knocks the the rest of the truck around.
Same can happen fitting an air ride seat.
