airsoft pellet tire balancing?

I have been using Dyna Beads in my 35" GY MT/R's for about 9-months now. 8oz per wheel. Most of the time, above 45mph or so anyway, they work well. However lately, after chunking a tire or two, they aren't perfect (maybe I need more than 8 oz.?). Maybe I'll give these soft pellets a try...

Well where the hell was that warning when I did mine? Haha well going out in the dark now to dismount vaccum out and reinstall .2g beads. Ayaya this will be real fun.

I was talking to some like minded folks at work and they gave me that warning yesterday. Combined with your experience I made it my warning. :) As always, YMMV. I hope the .2 g work better for you.

Do wait until I give you a full report. I experience steering wheel shimmy regardless of balance. I have a 1" BL and had to use a aluminum spacer the lengthen the steering shaft. So if I mention this please don't be alarmed. As far as the .2g pellets I have had them to 60mph for 15 minutes, tires felt smooth and the certainly balance faster after a take off then with the .12g. I will return home this weekend some 230miles away and let you know how it goes.

Ok so my results were so so. Up until 170 miles at varying speeds 60-80mph it would shimmy then and now and then again and maybe go away for a while then come back. After my 170 miles stop it seemed to smooth out but at that point I was in route to see my wife and was on the gas and ran 80+ the rest
of the way noticing no death wobble but some definite shimmy. So It's up to you but I'm taking my Nitto's to get balanced again and might leave my cooper stt's(currently on the truck ) with the pellets seeing as how those are the offroad tires anyway.

Sorry you had trouble. Mine have been solid. I wish there was a way to watch the pellets in the tire..

Alright for me I rate this mod busted. My poor MT's couldn't be more unbalanced. I got the Nitto's balanced like ********** at Tire Kingdom, soon as I'm back in town I'm vacuuming out the beads and going back to weights. Glad you guys had good luck but this didn't solve any of my problems.

I fail to see the problem. Sorry about you woes. I was considering doing this but after talking with some tire guy I decided not to. He said in the smaller size tires I would be better off with weights.

Maybe thats the issue I was having just not big enough (only 33's), to get the benefit of the pellets. Oh well live and learn, I now know how to unseat and re seat a bead, with my hilift and compressor.

So your saying I'm making the death wobble up? Thats it's just in my head? No thanks I'll stick with weights. I'm not spending any more money on this problem, I tried the pellets and no go. Not everything works for 100% of people.

I'm using 3.75 oz. of airsoft beads in each of my 235/75/r15 BFG ATs and they've worked great for the three or so months they've been in there.

I haven't gotten around to putting mine in yet. I'm lazy that way. I get new stuff for my rig, then 6-12 months later I get around to installing it.

The beads have got to be better than weights for me. I take my rig offroad constantly and punish it. I'll guarantee I leave behind some lead and/or rubber every time I go out. The only way traditional weights will work for me is to get them balanced every month, and thats to much trouble.

When I finally get around to the pellets I'll let you know what I think.
