Airstream Interstate

We have one and love it.... just did 5,100 miles through Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and California with my wife and 3 kiddos. Mesa Verde, Durango, White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, etc. Certainly not an expedition vehicle, but a great family vehicle. Haven't camped in it yet... figure it would work for 1 nights bad sleep with the family.

Next year will pull a Land Rover and then do some exploring in Colorado.

I like that the name is true to what the vehicle is made for. Interstate travel.

Someday I will own a Sprinter based vehicle.

I really wanted one, until I started physically going inside them. For me, all the standard production narrow-body class B are too small on the inside. They try to cram too much in, and end up being too compromised for me. The central bathroom in every one I've ever been in is too small for me to use yet takes up way too much of the limited floor space in the middle of the camper. For a road trip, an SUV is a better choice. For camping, a traditional RV is a better choice - for half the price I could get a similar length (but wider) new class C that would go anywhere that camper would, while having sleeping and seating for six, a bathroom I fit, and a much higher rated towing and GVWR.

I'd love a Sprinter-based travel vehicle, but I'd need to build (or have built) one custom for me.

I'm with you cwsqbm. Having had a Westy and a Sportsmobile, "Plan B" rigs are just too small for those with nuggets and/or who plan on spending much time boondocking off the beaten.
