These arent vehicle shots, but they are definitely are from a kind of adventure. I am a commercial fisherman in Alaska and have thousands of pictures of some of the most beautiful country in the world. Just thought I would share a couple with you guys.

Very nice......many years ago my uncle had a couple of Salmon boats we would go out and fish on in the San Juans. That part of the world is beautiful....

The main volcano there is Shishaldin on Unimak Island (Furthest Island west in the chain to still have brown bears). It is fairly active and smokes quite a bit. The village that you can see in one of the pictures is Akutan.

Salmon fishing is a fun fishery. I fished in bristol bay for 6 years and have lots of good memories of it.

Thanks guys.

flywgn: Nope we dont get to those places often. Mostly hang out between dutch harbor, akutan, king cove, sand point, and the rest of the bearing sea.

DakariEd: Working in the cold and ice can often suck (right now its icy and no fun!). But you just take it slow and do what you have to do. If it blows to hard and is heavy freezing spray you just anchor up in a sheltered bay. If you are icing up bad you have to go break ice every couple hours to keep the weight off. Believe me there are many times a winter I have wished I was in the desert :)

Haggis: I will post more pics for you guys. What do you want to see? The boat? More fishing? More scenery? I have super slow internet connection (although I am not complaining since I have wireless when I am in port and this is amazing technology for out here) but I have to choose what photos to upload.

1speed: I do not envy you at all. Adak is pretty amazing though. The amount of infostructure that the military had and left out there.

Ahhh, Dutch Harbor. I'll bet more than a few of us have seen a few episodes of "Deadliest Catch".

I've been out to the Aleutian chain. It was years ago and it was only for a couple of days (tdy, ASA stuff) and have always wanted to return for a more leisurely visit...not under the conditions pictured in your photos though.

Thanks for taking the time to let us have a look at your "Expedition Vehicle". If it makes it any easier, you can downsize the photos for posting and they shouldn't take as long. If you have the MS version loaded, right click on a pic and you are given the opportunity of re-sizing. Maybe this is also available within this forum under "Manage Attachments". I'll leave detailed instructions to the more learned among us.

In any case, thanks again.

Boat: yes. Fishing: Yes Scenery: Yes

I too suffer from a slow internet; no broadband out here in the sticks. I resize my photos in Image Zone Plus that came on my computer to the web page display setting. This drops the photo size from 26000 kps to around 900 kps and makes loading pics much faster.

The average fish is usually around 800-1200 grams. Right now the fish are pretty big. We have been catching mostly 1700 gram fish. I was finally able to upload some pics of the boat so you guys can see a little more of where I spend 8 months a year.

This is a shot of the boat in Seattle, WA in dry dock. We take the boat down every other year to do ship yard.

We are sitting in Ketchikan, AK on our way up the inside passage to Dutch Harbor, AK. If you have never been around the inside passage of AK and B.C. I highly recommend it.
