I dont carry a lot weight except for a camper shell and mabye at most extra 300 bls of gear. I think these would be perfect. They feature left and right specific leafs, tongue torque and they also have thicker metal leafs.

I currently have 7 leaf deavers thats a little too soft and not enough lift due to camper shell. Its about 250$ to rebuilt the 7s to 9s but I'm thinking about just selling my deaver 7 and getting the alcans.

I have these springs

I'm running an Alcan 8 pack on our 2004 Doublecab Tacoma. In general I'm happy with the springs but when we load the truck for a week and carry 3 adults they don't have as much capacity as I would like. Brief summary of gear carried:

6 gal extra fuel in NATO can, 10 gal water, 60 pounds of tools & vehicle recovery stuff, 2 full size spares, 45 qt cooler packed with food & ice (guess 45 pounds?), 80 lb dog, ARE shell (140 lbs?), 48" hilift, 3 alumiunum folding chairs, coleman camp stove & 1 gal fuel, personal gear & two tents. No extra battery, and no winch (at that time). Custom rear bumper at about 70 pounds, no swingaway spare carrier.

If you decide to go with these springs, you might also want to confirm that the locating pin is where you want it. Following the suggestions of Scott Brady and other posts here and measurements I specified moving the pin foreward 5/8 of an inch. That provided a good fit for the 255/85/16s. However, the guy I spoke with at Alcan was familiar with the need to move the pin forward on a Tacoma and I had the impression that if I hadn't suggested it the pin would have been in the stock position.

They flex well and ride great, but if I was ordering again I'd look at a 9 or 10 leaf pack.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wonder if these alcan leaf pack from wheeler have the center moved forward.

I would save the money and do the rebuild. I have no real reason for saying this other than the cost and the fact that Deaver is more or less local for you. I just put a set of Deaver 8 leafs on today so I can't really comment on them other than they do ride better than the stockers. The butt sits real high right now but that will change after I get them worn in a little. I carry no weight in the rear and I am sitting almost three inches over what my old ones were. I don't have any real plans for weight back there other than a CanBack later down the road and my caming stuff.

Thats probably the cheapest solutions. But I'm so in between about if I should go 8 or 9 leaf. 90% of the time my bed is empty except for couple surf boards and campershell. I even talked to Scott at Deavers. He couldn't really say for sure if I should go with 8 or 9. He did mention the 9 leaf would ride little rougher with empty bed. And he couldn't give any answers on weight capacities between the 8 or 9.

Those with deavers 9 leaf, how do they ride with truck bed empty/ with campershell?
