Rin - any word on the shadow awning pricing?

I will have a firm price come Monday, but it is looking like $1495 for the Shadow Awning. FYI, this awning is strong enough for a 200+lb Jeremy to do pull ups off without any poles to the ground. :)

does that include the awning side walls... if not how much more?...

NM is close enough for a road trip :)

neat! I was just about to pull the trigger on a James Baroud, but now seeing this I might have to hold off.

One thing my wife and I have been pondering: How to fit an RTT and kayaks onto our GX470. It looks like the roof of the AluCab could be setup to use Yakima camper tracks?

It's looking like the walls will come in around the $750 mark, however we will have a deal for the awning / walls for customers. :) We are extremely excited to debut this product at OEX West, we feel there is nothing like it!

Yes, the track system will accept Alu-Cab, Thule, Yakama, Rhino Rack and more, giving the owner endless options!

The James Baroud is an awesome product and we are fortunate enough to possibly have collaborations between the brands in the future. For instance, the Shadow Awning uses a variant of the Aluminized material found on the James Baroud RTT's.

In my opinion, the James Baroud tents are a sleek, ultra refined and weight conscious European product perfect for the rigors of most North American overlanders.

The Alu Cab tent is a heavy duty product, evolved in the South African bush and can take far more abuse then any RTT on the market.

While both are technically hard shell RTT's, both options appeal to different customers without actually competing we feel. Each superior in its own ways for the intended use.

I drew the same conclusions from looking at them. The only question remains: How smart is it mounting all that gear one the roof? At some point, it's smarter to just mount the RTT to a small adventure trailer and just the kayaks on the roof, further increasing the mobility and options of the whole package. The James Baroud certainly looks much better in my eyes. A JB tent with camper shell base tracks compatible with Yakima/Thule feet molded into the upper hull would be the bees knees, and ultimately hardly different in construction to the lower hull.

I know, hopefully the future holds some more JB options :)

I would be all over the Shadow Awn (or it would be all over my Jeep, I should say) if there was a shorter version. 2600 is just too long for a JK, IMO, but something 1800 - 2200 would work.

The wife and I were seriously looking at the Bundutec Awning since it covered much more space than the Alu-cab awning. But the awning wall setup as a separate room is nothing like the Alu-Cab version... need to think more on this :(

I thought the same thing coming from my 6'5" awning, until I actually had the chance to see the Fox Wing Eco 2.1 in person. The shorter length has a drastic effect on coverage to the point I would prefer a normal straight awning.

I will be fitting an AluCab Shadow Awning on my JKU shortly, the hardest part is the lack of rigidity of the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform. The awning has no need for ground poles so the rack must be up to the task.

I just do not see the benefit of the coverage over the hood area of a vehicle in a camping setup. For working under the hood it may be handy though! :)

my son and i like to sit on the hood of our Disco4 :) well until he gets bored of that when he's 4!
Is the awning walls and such made of the same aluminized material as the awning?... not sure if this was asked already. All the heat reflective material is welcomed. We are in Phoenix AZ and those summers sure are HOT. Coming from Hawaii, it can be a bit tough if you know what I mean.

Here is a sneak peak of the awning enclosure

The side walls are constructed from a rip stop material used on the Alu Cab Expedition 3 RTT. This solar reflective material did not have enough effect on the side walls to warrant the high cost of the material.
