Aluminess Rack Installed....

The roof rack has been the most anticipated addition to the van for me. I have needed a platform to shoot from for a long time. The back portion is expanded metal for standing and the front has rails for two solar panels. The installation went great and I have to hand it to Aluminess again. The ladder is being modified right now to reach from the rack to the base and won't be back till next week. Bummer, have the rack and can't use it yet!!

As I was warned the rack makes a fair amount of noise from 50mph on up. Aluminess gave me a few things to try which I will today. I can also feel the extra weight and drag up there. Not really a concern but it's presence is well noted while under way.

More photos of the installation coming soon.

Ladder having an extension welded on to bridge the gap. Hope to have it back next week.

You have great taste, our van's look like long lost brothers, lol. You ride as well, again, more in common, funny. Good Luck with the rest of your build, I'll be excited to see how it turns out! We're finally going to finish off our interior hear this spring as well.

Great rig and new rack! I marvelled when I was out at Aluminess. The company knows their stuff. Beautiful photography. The brutal weather this year has made for many a sunny clear day for us.

Last time I was in Big Bear, I was maybe 5 years old. My son is going to be 10 soon, and Big Bear is on my short list of places to take him when my van is complete. Great photography and videos! Love the relaxation on the roof rack. I plan on using my future rack for observation of the universe.

With a change of plans and a crazy work schedule I have not had time to do much to the van until this last week. Putting a few things in the van temporarily to check out placement and spacing. Just put the fridge, couch and Propex heater in this week. When I say I or we I really mean my dad is doing most of the work. Kind of a father son project but mostly father.

Everything is loose and will have basic cabinets built around it once we are happy with placement and function. The Isotherm fridge has been working great and seems to draw what it stated it would. If I did it over again I think I would just go with a top load Engel etc. Propex heater was finished up today and works great. It throws a huge amount of heat compared to the heater in my last heater.

Threw in a porta potti and makeshift shower for the Desert gathering a few weeks ago and they worked out fine but will do a more substantial build as time permits. Just these few additions have increased my enjoyment of it as a daily driver already

Floor, walls, and roof installation is next.

Then sink, stove and water down the other side.
