Am I a looney toon? 37" AT's

I think your reasoning for wanting to run a smaller tire with your stock gears makes sense....... Oh wait. Nm.

Haha sorry I had to. If your thinking of getting away from an MT i would seriously consider one of the "hybrid" tires. To me (this is completely subjective) you have regular AT tires like the Bfg or the Nitto. In today's tire market you have tires that kind of bridge the gap between the two: new Toyo R/T or the Cooper ST Maxx. These tires provide the longevity and more respectful daily driving characteristics while still allowing you to get 90‰ of the performance of a true MT in the nasty stuff.

I have ran a ton of tires on my Toy's and I loved my ST Maxx's and hated my old BFG A/T with a passion. That being said and knowing how excellent of a tire my current Toyo's are, I would seriously be considering the R/T if I wanted to get out of the MT tires..... Just to make your decision that much easier. ;)

When we meet in person, remind me about this comment you made...

I found a killer price in some hankook dynapro Mt's on line and in going to see if discount will match the price.

Well, after this long and painful debate I finally ordered tires. I went with the MTR's, thus making this thread useless. The guys at discount cut me a killer deal on them so they were almost the same price as the nittos. I'm happy to be walking away with a MT, even though I tried convincing myself all I needed was an AT.

Looking for bigger rocks.
In regards to my 40, the MT/R is a less agressive tire! LOL I need to replace my 37x14.50x17 bias Iroks at some point. I hope I'm not disappointed with the MT/R...
