^^^ You on the road now? if you are not going to be in Tucson before the 10th, you are taking your sweet time getting back.

Yep on the road but have to stop at head office and work for a few days. In Atlanta now. 1st 2 days went well except for no AC.

Question on your roof rack. I am designing mine now, and it seems that if I extend it much laterally overhanging the door openings, it may become a head bonker each time we enter or exit the doors. I see that yours extends quite a bit overhanging the doors. Have you had issues with hitting your head on it?

My amby has running boards under the cab door openings. When i step up onto them to enter the van is what I am concerned with.

I stand on those also, so far haven't had a problem with head wacking - haven't really noticed as a potential problem either, maybe I just naturally lean out a bit?

I would think the natural tendency to duck into the door frame when climbing in the van would keep you from hitting your head on anything above the roof line. Ive never hit my head on a door frame climbing into any vehicle (Well except that one time with the cop car.... dang "unpaid" registration tickets..) Now if you were standing on the side step just to get a better vantage point to look at a pretty view or something like that than you may bonk your head.

Makes sense. My rack will be 72" so it will only extend a few inches past the gutters. Shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the opinions, and sorry for the minor hijack.

So the whole time my wife and I were discussing paint, I always wanted straight white, and she always wanted some kind of striping scheme. We go to pick it up today, and I say "Wow, it needs a stripe", and she replies "Looks great white!". Go figure.
I just found this thread from an Ozrockrat's thread and one word, WOW :Wow1:
Great ideas and great execution. What an outstanding build.
I want to give some sort of contribution, so a 'paint idea'?

The 'pulse' pattern represents mountains, but with a red one, perhaps a tribute to it's ambulance history.
And maybe a blue one, to represent your connect to water (aka: a wave).

Workin' on it...
I just read all 56 pages of this...

All I can say is "wow". Apparently I said it a lot, out loud because my wife told me to ******** and went to bed.

Amazing, build. I wish I had half the talent to do a thorough build thread such as yours let alone actually build it.

just... wow.

You, my internet friend, are a damn genius. It is the perfect balance that on one hand tells the 18yo Federale with a machine gun that I am not a Cartel para-millitary assault vehicle, and on the other hand isn't the swoopy, garish, bought-off-the-lot RV striping that is so common. I'm thinking that the red/grey be more maroon/grey to reflect the interior colors and tie it all together, and a little more space between the first grey and red mountains to make the wave/water just a bit more prominent. Put a small version of this on the hood. Genius, I say!
