An expedition truck on portals...

Can you read my mind?

Yes I am and I was about to post this same question here, too.
Will you have some space in your luggage to bring me 2 things from the states???

You´ll find me or the truck at the same spot as last year.

So long,

Robert

I should. What do you need?

I`ll check things out and let you know, okay?

For me the clock is counting down slowly ...just 10 days until the start of the Breslau Rallye...

I finally managed to finish cleaning and derusting the truck (unbelievable for a two year old truck, but then it´s just a Defender, isn´t it?) and while cleaning I had the idea for mounting my snorkel properly.
I had always wanted a Safari Snorkel but they don´t really go well with external roll cages, which I knew from my 110SW, a Mantec would.
So I got both, a Tdi Mantec Snorkel and a Safari head, installed the lower part and kept wondering how to do the rest...okay...I was on the road s much I didn´t even have the time at home...

2 quick cuts and 100mm (4") were gone....

I had found a proper 3" pipe connector with just fitted perfectly and with some Sikaflex it´s as new...

I mounted the original bracket of the Mantec Snorkel to a aluminium strip that I fixed to the upper and lower bolts of the SD cage....

As the new lights are still somewhere in a package on their way, I will nonetheless start with the "baja" style bar to which I will then mount the brush-wires. By doing so the snorkel´s head is well beneath the lines and the lights are protected, too.

Maybe I´ll also start with the mounts for the roof mounted solar panels and start with the switch and dial panel on the inside....

That Land Rover sure is the creme de la creme of Rovers. Nicely done!

I have a question: How does the front of the rollcage attach to the truck? Is it just bolted to the fenders, or are there any reinforcements underneath?

The roll cage is connected to a bracket inside the fender on either side and these are fixed to the bulkhead and the frame´s outriggers.

When mounted properly the cage is pretty tough.

No, just photos, but offering live feed, too, and therefore I will be doing the race tracks again as last year.

I entered the Breslau twice as co-driver, once in Defender 110SW and once in a G55 Proto which was hilarious :D

I will upload some images here, if you guys like, from the track as I am doing my press stuff.

Hi Mike,

I only did the rear cabin, but all of it....

I used 6mm compressed rubber, which is usally used for flooring. It was left after a job I´d done on an exhibition. I attached it with some pretty nasty double sided tape and the drive last night was a great change already.
I will add some plates underneath the original rubber in the front, too.

So long,

Robert

I bet that made a difference on the way home. :ylsmoke: Nice to get some of the resonance out of the cabin.

Thanks,

Mike and Myles

I really like the "difference". It´s a great improvement.

Just returned from a very stormy and rainy day at the Luxembourg National...lickily there were a few sunny moments, too.....
