An Oztent to complement my Kamper, maybe even replace the RTT

I'm in the final stages of order this week and am wavering between the RV4 and RV5. I really only plan to sleep two on Byer cots running front to back. Anyone have input on whether there is much of a reason to go with the RV5 for this setup, or likewise a reason to choose the RV4? Appreciate any comment.

My quick $.02, I went from a cheap cabin tent to a RTT w/ covered entry and changing room, back to a cheap tent, then an Oz RV5, back to the RTT, and now I'm settled on a Turbo Tent. It's by far my favorite. I travel with my best friend and 3 labs. There's plenty of room for all of us and our gear, and it's super easy to set up/take down.

Who makes the turbo tent you just mentioned? Link?

Just seemed to me from the reviews and the picturs in nullifiers review showing cots that the RV4 would be fine with plenty of room. The RV3 would be wide enough but the cots would rub against the front and back of the tent, still likely would work. Not sure that helps you., but with two on Cots the RV4 seemed fine

Thanks for the insight Romer! Not having the cots touch the walls is important to help keep things drier. Leaning towards the RV4 if space works favoring the slight weight savings and slightly smaller footprint. I'll have to check bullies review better. Didn't see any pics of cot use there.

Justin's comments are spot on with the RTT and the Oztent. I've never owned a springbar.

I got rid of my eezi awn because I got tired of having to put away the tent if I wanted to drive anywhere. I found I wouldn't go places once camp was setup because I didn't want to put the tent away. I found it to be a pain to pack it up while on the roof of my 80. back and forth and up and down around the 80 to properly store the tent...

With the RV5, I have the peaked side panels and floor saver all packed in the RV5 carry case. It's a beast to put on the roof rack but still easier to lash down than the rtt. It does have a large footprint so that could become a limitation. But I love that it's a true living space. I can stand in it, and the patio provides nice shelter from the elements.

Now that I have a chaser, I'd like to put a rtt on it in addition to the rv5. I figure it'd be less cumbersome to open/close with it closer to the ground. It gives me options. The rtt would provide a comfy, fast setup sleeping quarter. I could keep a pillow and down comforter in there, so once it's open it's ready to go.

I run two Byer cots in an RV5 front to back and they just barely clear - particularly when you factor in the height of your sleeping bag, you, etc. laying on the cot. I love the tent, but fighting condensation in my part of the world is a focal point. Good luck with your plans. Pics when you get it figured out!

We have a RTT tent on an AT Horizon. Just added a Oz Tent RV-2 to the kit at OVX 13. Looking around the campground they did remarkably well in the wind. Watching the demo of set up and take down sold us. We got it more for a place to hang out if the weather gets bad. We've spent several Thanksgiving trips rigging tarps for shelter from rain/wind/snow. We picked up a piece of inexpensive indoor/outdoor carpet to fit on the floor. There is room for two chairs and a table inside. We can also use it if we hit a spot we can't get the trailer in to the campsite and also for guest travelers as a quick setup tent solution. It will travel mounted on the side of the trailer.

Towards WeeJeep2 -- I would recommend getting a 6'x8' tarp and wrapping the OzTent during travel. This will save the storage bag from sun light degradation and second you can use the tarp as a ground cloth in the awning area. It also helps to disguise the fact that you have a $$$ tent sitting on the side of your trailer. If you do not protect the storage bag the handles with rip off in about a year.

By the way you have a very well thought out setup with the trailer and OzTent.

Good idea on the tarp. I saw something on the UV sensitivity in a thread somewhere here on the portal. Got one ready to go.

Where are you guys purchasing these tents? I have found the rv2 and rv3 along with accessories at Dicks sporting goods but would like the rv4 for the extra leg room (I am 6'6"). Google search cannot find a US saler other than the Oztent website. They seem to be about $150 more expensive than what Dicks is selling for the same models.

My RV4 came today and fits inside my landcruiser with the middle seats down. I don't have the rears anymore, replaced with ARB drawers

Ill post up when I get back from Ouray. Leaving in the morning. I did set it up in my living room just to check it out and it does setup quick

By the way, family tent camping are awesome to deal with
