Wow, I had to look at that picture for a minute or two to see what is was. That is some gloss. Looks great.

The gray came out ok. The blue came out like crap. Runs, drips and sags... looks ok from 50 feet, thats about it. It was a tad too cold this morning I think...

I am gonna let it dry a good long while. We are going to use it for our trips over the next few months as is, then probably this fall when it cools off, we will sand it out and probably spray it or try the roll and tip again... not sure.

The ENTIRE surface looks like melted candle wax. Also, the entire trailer is covered in dust and lint in the paint. In spite of best efforts to clean and tack off the surface before hand...

Sigh...

Well, screw it. Im tired of dealing with this build. Done. D. O. N. E. Done.
Maybe down the road we will hire a pro to sand out the whole thing and automotive base coat/clear coat the whole trailer and be done with it.

Time to put it together, get it registered and use the damn thing. I don't care what it looks like at this point. Maybe Ill just get a wrap put on it. Who knows...

The pics certainly look good, but I can understand frustration. There have been several times that I wanted to burn my never ending Alaskan truck camper build. I'm talking chain it to the truck, drag it of the jacks and douse it in gas. Fear of jail held me back
Take a step back, finish it up and use it a lot! You will feel better about it

I understand you wanting it to come out perfect. But to be honest it would only look perfect for a so long and any finish over any material would deteriorate over time. On my rig the finish I have very little concern with as I will take it places that will eventually scratch, scrap and dent it. But I do want my camper to look nice as it will not see as adverse trails but be parked as a base camp and allow me to go explore the area before moving on. I am hoping building mine out of the shell of an XJ and being able to apply an automotive finish on it, I hope will look nice for a while and also painting it white to match the color of my rig it will be easier to touch up when certain things go array with the finish. (lighter colors are much easier to hide imperfections than darker color do. and In my auto body/paint shop the instructor emphasize on the fact that the darker the color you are painting a vehicle, you must pay more attention to perfecting the body work as every imperfection will shows up)

To be honest from your pics. I think it turned out great, especially painting over wood.

Well, we started putting it all back together. Paint is pretty rough, but still very shiny. Looks pretty good from 50+ feet away.

Lots of little screw ups here and there. Gives it character I guess. LOL

DONE!!!!! Well, just about.

Interior trim, shelves/cabinet and rear door seals. And a little caulking here and there.

Good luck with your registration. You need a system like we have. I registered both my utility and expedition trailers sight unseen before they were even half done. Next up is a tear drop trailer. I've barely started it ... but it's already registered! I say ours is a good system but it is anything but.

Your trailer is along the lines of what I plan to build and is an inspiration to me.

Well, got the movement permit to take it to DMV for inspection and registration tomorrow. Took it to the scales today. 1220 empty, 180 tongue weight! Trailers beautifully!!!!!
