Price dropped from $33,000 to $25,000.
The truck is a 2014 RAM 3500 dually 4X4 cab and chassis model with a CM Truck Beds model SK 9’4” flatbed.
Engine is a 6.4 Hemi gasser. No extra diesel related operation or maintenance costs. Plus the truck has a higher payload with the gas versus diesel engine. It’s got 154,000 miles. While in for some preventative maintenance (idler pullies & fan clutch) in January I had my mechanic give it a good once over. It got a clean bill of health. Other maintenance during my ownership includes a new heater core in December of 2021, complete brake job, wheel bearings & hub seals in September of 2022. I have all receipts for this work.
As a cab & chassis, it didn’t have a spot for the spare under the bed. I cut the headache rack off the flatbed & built one that accommodates the spare & provides storage for other things – camp chairs, firewood, etc. When the camper is off there is E-Track across the front of the headache. I use it for wheel chocks for dirt & mountain bikes. Obviously can be used for whatever E-Track components a person wanted.
The camper is a 2000 Lance Lite 815, 8’6” length. It’s got all the normal truck camper features – frig, heater, stove, full bathroom. I replaced the water heater in the summer of 2022 & upgraded the standard RV faucet to a residential grade unit with a sprayer. Frig is a Dometic three way. I’ve never tried it on 12V - propane & AC modes work great. The furnace cranks. New 6” memory foam mattress in September of 2022.
Other work includes a re-seal of all roof seals, replacement of roof top AC with a powered vent fan both in the summer of 2023.
As to the “boondocking machine” part I mentioned above. I replaced the standard RV toilet with an OGO composting unit. It’s a urine diverting type composter which makes it way easier to deal with than a “standard” composting toilet. In short, pee goes into a container to be emptied as you see fit, poop goes into a bucket of composting material. After each deposit you push a button, it gets mixed up and you’re done. Once full (week to 10 days in my experience) it gets emptied into a bag to be thrown away. No, it does not stink. Check out ogotoilet.com & let me know if you have any questions. The kitchen & bath sinks go to the grey water tank. I have a hose adapter on the there so it can either be direct drained or stored & emptied conventionally with an RV hose. The shower was hooked to the black water tank, which was removed when I pulled the toilet. It is now direct drained via a flexible 1” hose. I did a 45 day trip with this setup & didn’t have to visit an RV dump once.
Other ad ons & included items:
Bike rack mounted to rear of camper. Always there, doesn’t block the camper door or drivers’ line of sight like a hitch mounted rack on the rear or front of the truck.
Foldable sawhorses for storing the camper on while off the truck. They live in the headache rack storage area I built.
I have the original toilet & black tank if someone wanted to go back to that method.
Extra 20lb propane tank (two total).
Extra house battery (both are Marine RV batteries).
This is a turn key setup. I wouldn’t hesitate to hop in this thing & drive to Baja.
$33,000. Dropped to $29,000
