A trip to the dealer to get my D40 Navara its scheduled service revealed today Nissan´s latest offering: the NP300 TDI pick-up truck.

The NP300 is a nothing-you-don´t-need, no-nonsense truck with a detuned YD25DDTi engine producing 301Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. The interior is spartan. The shifter is sharp, and the 4WD transfer case is activated with an old-school lever next to the shifter. It´s yours for $27,000...

That's not nice!

Well, that's just not very nice making use drool like that!
Hey, we have snow and you don't, so take that!

Well, I tried.

Nice truck

That's the latest offering? I know the D40 Navara is similar to the current Nissan Frontier, but that thing up there looks like the previous generation Frontier, the one they stopped making in 2004. Of course, the US model didn't get a diesel in it though. My girlfriend drives this model around, and I like the spartan utilitarian-style, except the bubble headlights, which I find... ugly.

Yes, you are mostly right. The NP300 is a rebadged, tweaked D22-generation Frontier/Navara, the key difference being the engine. Like I said before, it is a work truck, having a higher payload than the D40 and steel rims.

We got the same here (they call it Terrano pick up) with the YD25DDTi with 136 Hp , also in paralell you got the D40 Navara with this same engine in 136 or 175 Hp outputs.
Our R51 Pathfinder also sells with the 2.5 direct injected diesel Euro IV in line four with 175 hp and the 4.0 with 269 hp V6.-

And what do you say about this, a "new" D21 4x4 Crew cab (Hardbody in USA) ... KA24E engine ..

Or its 2WD crew cab version

Dunno, but it's more about towing ability than payload. Mine has 3 rows , 7 adults plus some load in the back, with the ARB HD rack I can load over 300 lbs more and still tow a trailer with 1 large jetski, 4 MTB and 1 windsurf easily and still do 80 mph cruise speed.

In my market (Indonesia) the only overland expedition-worthy platform, to my mind and needs, that one can buy new is a double-cab pick-up truck. I don´t want to tow anything nor have more than bulky but light items on the roof. I would only trade my Navara for a D-cab Hilux.

Man we get screwed :(

I have a friend from here that is currently working in Antofagasta and drives a Navara for a work truck. I told him he has to import 5 of them for their office in Edmonton, 1 for me of course :victory:

JP, I absolutely love that Patrol. I wish we could get something like that here, but it seems that most people in American would rather have a smooth riding, low to the ground SUV to take to Starbucks...

Oh what I would do for a solid axle diesel small pickup :( Would love an SUV but I just haul my bike around too much and hate towing a trailer.
