Any 100 owners complain about power?

Curious what 100 owners think of their factory V8.

V8 swap threads pop up regularly for 80 owners here and on Mud.

I must confess I've got a list of "if this happens to the engine then I'm gonna do a V8 swap".

SECOND THAT.

Recently had the fuel filter and plugs replaced, that helped. Highway cruiser at 80 mph it's not, although it can do it. Spent 2 1/2 days driving all over Bill Williams mountain the last weekend, used less fuel than on the way home on I-40!

Go from a 60/80 into a 100 and the power is welcome, drive a 200 and they all feel anemic

That said, I like taking a tractor down the highway :D

I own UZJ100, FZJ80, and 1970 Series 2A Land Rover with 74 HP from the factory..... Thus I have no issues with the power of the 4.7 V8

BTW in ROW many/most petrol 100s are FZJ100s (yes with the 4.5L 80 engine) and it is a little sluggy.

My daily driver is a tundra with the 5.7 L V-8 so yes, compared to that the 4.7 is a bit of a dog. My wife has a 06 Sequoia that has the variable valve timing and Is a stock dd so weighs a ton Less and has standard size tires on it and the 100 is pretty slow and fat compared to that as well!

That said, it is what it is and we just embrace going a little bit slower and getting a lot worse mileage!

Worse in reference to what? I had a 2008 Tundra 2wd with the 5.7 and stock tires that got on average about 2 mpg worse than my 03 100 with 33s.

The land cruiser gets 12 to 13 and less than 10 when towing the trailer.

My four-wheel-drive 5.7 L tundra gets about 14 or 15 driving mostly around town for work.

I guess it's not that huge of a Delta, but it is pretty significant percentage wise.

I just had fuel injectors cleaned and calibrated in my '99 UZJ100 and now getting 16MPG @ 65MPH w/ 285/75/16. (at 75 MPG drops pretty quick down to 12/13)

If you're coming from an 80 to a 100... You'll love it. If you're looking to swap a v8 into your 80 there are much better options for more power.

I drove my fj40 with 35's for 16 years before adding a 100 series, now I feel like I'm getting into a super car most mornings :bike_rider: I think it's about expectations, the guys who's other car is a Porsche are going to be bummed with the 100's power, those who's other car is a Corolla are going to love the power.

If I were shopping for 100 series today I would be looking for an 06 or 07 since they have both the five speed transmission and the variable valve timing.

2003 was the first year of the five speed transmission and 2006 first year for some additional horsepower.

I'm content just like Kurt mentioned, especially after driving the 73 ;)
