Any experience with TC Teardrops?

We're looking at their 5x8 offroad trailer that they just unveiled. The standar version is here:

Looking at around $7K with all the options we want to add so it's well within our budget range and $10K cheaper that a SoCal. I was just curious if any of you have even heard of them or had any experience with them.

Thanks!

I haven't heard of them, but they look to be in the same general price/quality class as Little Guy. I own a SoCal Teardrop, and yes they are pricey (especially with options), but they are quality units that hold their values well (see for sale postings on this forum).

Depending on your intended use, the thing that most concerns me about this and similar trailers is the lack of a "real" suspension. I'm not sure I'd ever be happy with a torsion bar based setup.

You might want to take a look at Kodiak Adventure Products. I have no direct experience with them, but based on what I can see from their web site, they look like they would be cheaper than a SoCal, but still include a full suspension.

I'd have to agree that the TC looks to be the same quality and price range as the LG stuff. I think for the money going for a TC or LG probably will do the job if you're not going to get too crazy with taking it offroad.

I have a SoCal Krawler TD as well and though it cost it bit more, I'd have to say the quality and features are definitely worth the money. Compared to the LG and TC, it's got a lot more features and accessibility in the galley than what the LG(mainly the fridge mounting situation) or TC can offer.

We all have different personal preferences. Do your research on what you like, your budget, and your needs and wants.

TC will work with you, and help build what it is you want. If you want a different axle, they will find one for you. TC is a pretty small operation. If you are in the WI/MN area, they are usually renting out some of their campers at different campgrounds.

I'm not so sure this is a legit craigslist offer. I was checking into it and was told the trailer wasn't in Las Vegas but being sold through a 3rd party company. Wire transfer the money and they will ship the trailer to you. Be careful if you look into it.

You're right, that sounds 100% fraudulent. I suppose it really didn't make sense that the alleged manufacturer of the trailer wasn't active here on the forum promoting it.

Not to mention the crappy diction and spelling. That's usually an indicator on C/L...

The Nest Egg looks intriguing. There are a few things I don't like for a real off road trailer after watching his videos:

1. Torsion beam suspension.
2. Spare tire location (under the tongue, where it is guaranteed to get hung up off road).
3. A multiple water tank system (one tank under the floor for a shower, and a separate smaller one for the sink, filled separately).
4. Unclear if matching wheels and tires to the tow rig is an option.

On the plus side:

1. Very lightweight.
2. Has a waste water tank.

Any idea what these start at?

We have spoken some and his willingness to work with us for the budget is certainly making is lean towards their product. The only drawback is one hell of a road trip to pick it up! :)
