Any Fjällräven fans on here?

I own a couple of items in the Numbers collection. I have a pair of waxed Gaiter Trousers No 1 that I can't stop wearing. The Trousers No 27 are the same style without the gaiter function and at a more affordable price (and less heavy duty material). I also have a Ovik Lite Vest that I am a big fan of so I'll be picking up the Ovik Lite Jacket soon. I wish they made it with removable sleeves so I didn't have to buy both. I also have an Anorak No 8 jacket that I bought used on eBay but I have yet to wear it because it is so extremely heavy duty. They are certainly not the cheapest but the quality and durability is top notch and if you're tall and athletic like I am there are very few brands out there that cater to our body type.

I have a few Fjallraven pieces and really like them. I would buy more, but some of it can be a little expensive, although it is priced appropriately for the quality.

I'll put my Duluth Superior Jacket up against Sinuhe's Zoolander Jacket for build quality comparison anytime...
It was only $109 back when I got it (for a 2XL-Tall) so it was a better bargain. Best Jacket I've ever owned.

I'm not as pretty as he is but this'll give you an idea of what it looks like

My Ovik Trousers arrived yesterday. I just have to get them hemmed. I also got a canvass belt. Very impressed, so far.

well its swe brand and im from swe to so had a lot of ruggsacks and jackets when i was a kid
now days it feels a bit "retro" for me but i like the wax cotton setup easy to redo
and it use to be a basic bullitprofe consept but it lost a lot of ground to haglof and peak in sweden
after all the modern syntetic fabric came around and they stuck to more classic fabric.
and they use to be 3 basic colors, green, sand, gray. and al other had mutch more of a collor range

Good timing. I need a winter jacket. Wish they had temp recommendations and some indication of bulkiness on their website. Any (non-puffy jacket) recommendations? Do you find their US sizing to be true? I'm used to expecting a range when using the letter designations (XL=44-46, not a single number=43). I noticed this with Devold also but they are true to size.
I've been suffering with a Carhartt for a couple winters now Unyielding thing. Like wearing a sleeping bag made out of firehose. Sadly, it will last forever.

I have the Ovik Lite Vest and I like it so much that I ordered the Ovik Lite Jacket. The Lite version is the non-puffy version so make sure you don't get the regular which is very puffy. The fabric is a bit more coarse which I like and it can be waxed for water resistance. Not sure about sizing other than that I wear Large normally and Large for Fjällraven as well.

Interesting thread, since I just happen to be in Boulder, CO this week and read the above and had to stop by the store -

Wow - it was like everything was custom tailored just for me! Never experienced fit like this in my life, I usually have a very hard time and have been really disappointed in online merchants like Duluth, both in fit and quality. I usually have to buy XL or XXL to get arms long enough, and then it's difficult to find stuff that will fit a 34 waist at the same time without tenting out.

This thread's gonna cost me, bought a pair of pants but I guess there's a store close to home in Boston so I think that'll just be the beginning haha.

I have a Fjallraven Keb Jacket. Frankly it is just a fashion piece for me, I bought it because my partner thought it looked good on me.

For $300+ it isn't even close to water resistant, which is odd, because the tag on the jacket touted the waterproofness off their G-1000 material. While that might be waterproof, they covered all of the prone areas in a stretchy non-waterproof fabric that a slight breeze penetrates. It has a massive, ridiculous storm hood. I wore it once in the rain and was soaked within moments.

They claim it to be a jacket for mountain treks. Sketchy.

Hi,

I work with FR for nearly 20 Years now, and to work means that I`m use and sell this stuff.

There a swedish, and this means there a totaly different to thinking about outdoors to those
Brands in Europe sitting next to the alps or to the US Brands.

When you are in the swedish Fjäll ( Mountain) in the summer you meet lots of people with this stuff from FR, complete opposite to a Tour in the Alps where the most peoble trust in the idea of maximum weather protection.

The material comes out for military use, and Ake Nordin adabted it for the civil market.
Back in the 90s they work with Gore-Tex together and bring some real waterproof items on the market, but again very swedish ( not lightweight, lots of pockets etc.).

I like the idea that you can take the Wax and change the weatherprotection as you like it, and the fact that you can sit near a Fireplace without any fear to damage the thing.

When I go for a propper Mountain Walk in the Alps I`l take my Gore Equipment, but not for the woods, not for hunting and not for Backcountry- Ski in Scandinavia.

Following that logic one could then also argue that all Filson's products are 'just fashion pieces' as well. I find the G-1000 fabric superior in many ways, particularly in durability, and especially if waxed and properly cared for. My Arc'teryx Gore-tex Shell and Pants are my rain jackets. They spend most of their time on a hanger or as a back up in luggage. I rarely ever use them any more. Only in a severe downpour and we have a few of those here in Portland but rarely do I bother to pull them out.
