Anybody had any real world experience with new BF Goodrich ATKO/2's

So I had my new 17" steel wheels loaded in the LR3 and was off to the tire store. I had decided on Cooper ST Maxx's for it after reading the comparison test in the Overland Journal a couple of months ago. Yes, I know they didn't test that model of Cooper tire but they seemed like a good choice for my needs. Like most of us I've used the BFG AT's on my Disco 2's and liked them but thought I'd see if maybe they were a bit long in the tooth and it was time to try something with a newer design. After stopping at the Post Office on the way to the tire store (nice to have something to read while they M&B the new tires) The brand new issue of The OJ was in my PO Box-cool. Now I see BFG has come out with a brand new updated AT tire. Guess I'll wait and see if anybody has tried them and what they think before I spend the $$$.

Looks like the old AT but with a different sidewall. Yawn.

They may look similar but there's several differences.

Tread pattern is slightly different
Stronger compound
Different siping
Different ejectors
Sidewall twice as thick and new compound
Side-bite lugs

I'd like to give them a try, but the sizing is rather limited right now, unless you opt for more than basic modification.
Especially for 17 or 18 inch wheels.

Edit- the BFGoodrich site lists quite a few more sizes than any online dealer shows. They show a LT265/65R18.
May have to wait a bit and see...

Actually, they WILL have later more sizes than any other similar tire I think, at least in the tricky lr3/4 18" zone. 265, 275, and 285/65x18 were of course going to be made but I was surprised to see the very rare, in any type, 265/70x18.

These will be my next tire, and then I won't need to think about tires for 60,000+ miles.
