Anyone doing an XJ highline Low COG build?

Didn't feel stable. Always felt like the tires were going to fold over with low tire pressures and off-camber driving.

This is kinda the point where I'm at BIGDaddy. Looking to do some more mods to the body to accomodate bigger tires. First things first though and more basic drivetrain upgrades are first on the list.

If I had the dough-

frame stiffeners
long arm kit (prob. TnT)
4.5" springs front
shackles for the 3.5" RE rear
upgraded axle shafts and gears
33s with trimmes fenders
and a 4.6 STROKER (maybe) :drool::drool::drool:

There's an XJ like that on Jeepforum. It does look like a Hummer, especially since it's painted flat tan.

But I don't think it has much uptravel.

This interested me . As I was looking at a TJ that was running a 35" tire with the "highline" fenders .

I currently have a RE 3.5 Superflex kit on my XJ with 31's ... I am definetly going to go to a 33" tire when the time comes for replacment .

I normally would not , but it seems the trails I run most often have rocks that are just scraping my diffs . And I would like to beable to airdown to 7-10psi while keeping the clearance the same as when on 31's .

Currently if I airdown to increase traction and ride comfort , I loose 1" of clearance . More so if i am fully loaded with camp gear .

There is SO much room to trim fenders(& inner ) to fit larger tires .

Just need to find a way to make it look "presentable" so as not to look like a hack job .

Uptravel. You'll have zero with huge tires and no lift. That's what the lift is for. I'm coming down from my 5.5 kit to the 4.5 height...I hope to stay there because I like to go womping in the desert sometimes and having that uptravel is helpful.

I'm subscribing because I'd like to see this happen though!

I am looking at about 8" of travel, maybe 60%-40%, with high quality 2" shocks it should rump around pretty good.

I am just afraid of my camping equipment disintegrating and as a wanna be Glamper would say, my wine bottles stirred too much :sombrero:

This is not a LCG, but it run 35 with full articulation without rubbing. It's belong to a friend of mine. Sorry for the black top pictures. Its does see a lot of of off road action, but I don't have any pictures handy.

Can we get details? I think I've fallen in love with those fenders!

Mine's an '88 XJ. I have been running 31x10.5 BFG's for a while now on sagging stock springs. I took off all the flares, cut and folded the rear, and cut out the stock shape in the front. The rears are now finally semi-permanent and look clean after a load of rivets, bondo, and paint. The fronts flares just barely fit back on a couple inches higher. It sags about 2" in front and I'd like to at least get it back to stock height, but I clear the tires fine except for full-lock it rubs the lower control arms. This is a wheel backspacing/control arm issue though.
I'll try to get some photos up soon- I think it's looking pretty good (much more presentable than open wheelwells...)
