Anyone ever have this problem (disco2)

done a few searches here and google so my apologies if the info is out there and I just cant find it. My driver side rear door has been stuck closed for some time now. I have pulled the door panel off and tried actuating the latch by hand a few times now but to no avail. I have a new latch mechanism ready to go in, and have studied how it works over and over, and nothing that works on that works on the one in the car. Am I going to need to resort to putting a hold in the inner fender and try to back the screws for the latch hook out from that side or what? All the info I find when searching is about the cargo door being stuck and that's not my problem.
thanks for your time

Try some of the LR or D2 specific forums, you'll find someone with the exact same problem there. Probably. The motor for the lock typically goes, but at least in my case that's happening quite slowly, getting progressively more difficult to unlock it. Doesn't sound like that kind of problem. Before making holes in the bodywork, try getting at the screws holding the inner door lining maybe?
EDIT: something like this http://www.discovery2.co.uk/Reardoor_lock.html

Having had to get past a P38 super locked I am certain there is a way to get your door open. Do you have a long 90 degree hose pick?

cant say I do for sure, I know I have a couple of o-ring picks that have 90s on them though cause I just used them lol. what is your idea of attack?

I have had luck before in holding the door lock knob up in the unlocked position and while unlocking the car with the remote giving the lock a bit of a tap..it took quite a few times but it did eventually give enough assistance to unlock it..with the wiring diagram you can actually put power and ground to the lock solenoid wires and keep power to it and give the lock a tap, this way you are bypassing the CDL control unit if you are in super lock..I know this is possibly a bit more involved that the regular DIYer but it isn't too complicated

sort of a hard wire idea then, that may be my only option as I no longer have remote locking. before I start googling the pin outs, anyone have a link for that handy?

What I did was break off the cover where the super lock is located.

(Not my picture)
Then I pryed the super lock out of its home which will allow you to activate the latch assembly with your pick.

I wish I was there as its so much easier to do than explain. ;)

Having to do that makes you appreciate how good the superlock on the P38 actually is.

This winter in Moab my P38 passenger door would only open from the inside, and the driver door would only open from the outside.

The joys of Land Rover ownership! :)

SUCCESS!
Took the old flat head and hammer out, found a good angle, and smashed the **** out of it. it was quite satisfying, almost felt as good as when the door opened.
I now have 5 operational doors again so that's great, my kid loves it too haha
Thanks for the tip ColoDisco!
