Hey everyone,

I am going to have to fab up something to haul my Honda Generator eu2000i. I put this little rack extension on the rear with intentions of possibly carrying a small generator. I have yet to come up with an exact way to mount it while traveling. I'm kinda thinking about some sort of a sheet metal box that has a cover on it where I can remove it when at camping but to also keep it out of sight/out of the elements while traveling. Just looking for amy ideas because I really don't want to put it inside the trailer because with 35" tires and SOA springs it is already pretty high and would be a serious PITA to move each time we camped(if needed)

A friend of mine built a small rack to mount his Yamaha EF1000iS generator on the tongue of his offroad trailer. Sorry, no pics. Trailer was sold several years ago.

yeah unfortunately I was planning on hanging a harbor freight tongue box to house my 12v setup and don't think I can make both of those work

Here is one that is built specifically for the EU2000, but at $799.00 plus $99 shipping, it is almost the cost of the generator!! WOW!

You may be able to fab one based on the design however.

man it usually takes a lot to blow me away but Holy Cow...$1k box for a $900 generator :Wow1: I may just make something out of wood or try to see about having a local sheet metal company fab me the box and I can cut out the access panels and add some of their touches. Great idea but it would need to be half that for me to being anywhere near justifying paying that for a boxl

What about a utility type box that has the door that opens either up or down? You could put the generator in it and then drop the door down and if needed slide the generator out onto the door. Or make one like it. These are all expensive, but I've seen similar ones that are a lot cheaper. I just can't remember where now. You could make something like this if you can't find a reasonably priced one.

I think I may have found a real slick option from that site. I'm going to wait until I can do some measuring but man thanks a ton for that link!!!!!

May I add also that you should found generator that fits certain type of switch like link/panel and type of inlet so to take care with that.

I really don't see the need for a full on transfer switch. Most of the time I will have very little need for generator. Most everything is going to be either propane or 12volt but since I already have the generator I figure I may as well find a convenient way to mount it. I'll try to find something where I am able to easily handle it. I have a tongue box in route. once it arrives I may see if there is a way to mount it on the tongue with the box. I doubt either of those concepts will work but I'm going to have to keep looking.

Generator Mount

Hi, I'm new in this forum. I would like to show how I mounted my generator on my trailer.
The generator is a Yamaha 2000 and I made a double platform. One platform is attached to the tongue of the trailer and the other platform supports the generator. To isolate the vibration I used a set of springs and a bungee cord to absorb the movement so I can run the generator in place and be inside without noise or vibration.
This setup works great!:)

My generator is really only used to recharge the battery, or run the microwave. I just plug the trailer cord into it and I can run everything off the trailer.

Guri, does that little Yamaha vibrate that much? I was looking at those as a replacement for my Honda 800 down the line. The Honda barely vibrates, I am pretty sure with its rubber feet I would never feel it in the trailer.

When you have the generator on the ground, you can't feel it, it seems to be standing still but actually it vibrates. When the generator is off the ground (mounted on the trailer) the rubber transfers the vibration to the chassis. My trailer is a Toy hauler and its feels worse because the empty box amplificates the noise ( I can speak by experience)
I solved this problem with this design and it works great until I sold it to buy a bigger one.

yeah I may not have been clear on what I'm trying to do here. I'm trying to fab up some sort of a box/cover/mount whatever to protect it from the elements and the main reason is for stopping the chance of it being stolen. I will remove it from the trailer and store away from the camper setup because I do not want to worry about the carbon dioxide because I'ld be sleeping right on top of it when it would be running on the trailer. For me I'm strictly looking for a mount only for transport/storage. My generator makes very little noise or vibrations but I've used it on a trailer it was mounted to and it didn't seem to bother me. I'm open to all ideas though.
