anyone know anything about this company?

Suntinez, thanks. I've got a lot going on right now, but may post a few here later. You may be interested in the Yahoo Tiger group:

Dunno this board well enough yet to know if that'll come out as a working link, but C&P if not:

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/tigermotorhomeowners/?yguid=152612525

I've copied some of my pix there. That's curently the active place for Tiger owners and interested folks. Also, MSN tried to move us to a site called 'Multiply', but the group rebelled at the clumsiness of the site. But I think everybody's old photos exist there. Should be easy enough to locate with google.

Ok!

So how did a thread about a camper built on a domestic full size pickup truck end up in the forum for van conversions??

Moderators - we have a misfile. This beast is the same construction as the Earthroamer. If you don't want it there, it should be in full size domestic or other campers. The Tiger is not a van in any form.

NoNeck, here's one of the pics of your CX you sent me, looks nice!! I uploaded it to photobucket, then linked to the IMG file. And welcome to Expo.

DiploStrat, I think you're right, maybe in "other campers". My GT is a van conversion, but since they are now all built on the 4x4 Ford or Chevy chassis, might belong elsewhere.

I moved it at a member's request. I'll move it again.

Not to take this too far toward the RV side ;), but in a recent exchange of emails with 'Mr Tiger' (Dave Rowe, the outgoing owner of Provan), I asked about the origins of the Astros used for the Tiger XL & GT. Naturally nosy, ol' me.... ;) GM never marketed a cutaway based on the Astro chassis. All of the GT's and XL's were indeed made from full-bodied Astros that Provan cut the bodies off of. So, yep, they're 'van conversions', and class B RV's by the RVIA rules. (I've even seen one 24' or so 'Allegro' made on an Astro, as well... AFAIK, they're only known for making big class A's.)

To clarify a muddy issue AIUI, RVIA classes are done thusly.... 'A' is built of a flat chassis, 'B' is in a van body (or starts with one), and 'C' is built on a cutaway.

As near as anybody can figure, as an RV the pickup-based CX is a class C, tho' Provan orders 'bed delete' Silverados, and then cuts out most of the rear cab wall themselves. Dave's used the term 'chassis-mount camper', as well. Tongue-in-cheek, I call my 'Loafer's Glory' a C-minus.

When I have time, I'll post some pics here of the original (?) Tiger, and my ideas for perfection inspired by it.

Traveling in a Tiger

My wife and I have lived full time in our Tiger for the past two years. In that time we have traveled to Prudhoe Bay and Innuvik in the far north, then down to Ushuaia at the tip of South America. We are currently in Chile, having been in South America for the past nine months. Our Tiger has held up extremely well with no structural problems at all despite 60,000 miles of use with about 30% of those being on unpaved roads. We are very happy with our Tiger.

Welcome to Expo! I have really enjoyed reading about your adventures on your website, thanks much for sharing.

I have a 2005 GT, just getting to know each other, but can see many happy miles ahead.

I found this on the Yahoo Tiger owners' group: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...685&sspa\ gename=ADME:B:SS:US:1123&viewitem=>

Hopefully, that'll be a live link. If not, search eBay Motors for a 1997 Provan Tiger. All I know is what's in the ad, but it looks pretty good.
