Anyone make their own "national Luna style Power Pack"?

I have two rigs, and I would really like to have a dual battery system that I can use in either one. The National Luna PP seems to fit the bill, but before I put down the money on one of these, has anyone had success in putting together their own? Is it cost effective? I have found this how to on google, but it's more in line of a portable 12 volt source:

I am not afraid of wiring, and have somehow managed to do some extensive wiring on the cars and house without killing myself, yet.

some one has done a price comparison and concluded the NL unit to be more moderately priced than the individual parts.

of course without backup documentation, I don't expect anyone to believe me.

I agree they are pricey but I can say first hand the NLPP are great. All in one package with quality materials. So easy to take out and pop in another car also.

I thought that would end up being the situation. I'll just keep it on my list of "wants" unless anyone chimes in with a more viable solution.

Me personally, I prefer a permanent solution if possible. However, the wife's Grand Cherokee is hers and she doesn't want me to butcher up anything inside... lol. I am looking into this pack to run the fridge when it's not in my Jeep.

Lysol,

I thought I did too, but I have already had one instance where I used the fridge in the other vehicle so this would fit the bill. Besides, I "try" to make my trucks as modular as possible, being able to take out and arrange equipment as needed. I don't have built in storage for this reason, so I can still use the bed of the truck as a truck bed.

With the issues of the dual batteries next to each other causing stress on the welds in the 01-04 Tacomas, the portable dual system started to look more appealing.

For the record, I have been getting by with relying on the fridge's voltage cut off and Sears Die Hard Platinum handling the load and I have not an issue yet.

As they say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"... lol.

But, I still find excuses to make things better. I like to have as much Ah as I can fit too. I like how you can put your own battery inside the NL pack. I'm sure it would suit our needs fine in the wife's vehicle. In my Jeep, I'm installing over 100Ah worth of battery power in a permanent solution so the NL pack won't benefit me there, but should fill the niche for the wife's ride.
