Anyone repack their own wheel bearings?

I've never used a packer. I'm afraid it would miss a spot.

Put on gloves.
Fill palm of hand with grease.
Drag the big side of the bearing through the grease a few times until grease squirts out the other side.
Rotate and repeat.

Take the time for attention to detail.

Different. Timken 30211M and 30212M if I remember correctly. I changed mine out but kept the old ones as spares. For me it was worth it to order name-brand, YMMV.

I ordered these but there is a seal for the outer bearing. I am trying to avoid buying at Mitsubishi dealership as high dollar. Do you know which bearing is the outer bearing and where to get the seals aftermarket?

I can't see where I ordered the seals so I assume I just reused them.

The seal will be on the inner not outer , there is a gasket on the free wheeling hub that is pretty easy to make or reuse the old one.
Seal should be 72mm x 96mm x 8mm and total with lip 12mm

My truck (2004 FG649) has around 125k miles on it, and I suspect it still has the original bearings, so I'm planning to replace them while I'm at it. I saw the Timken inner and outer part numbers mentioned above -- does anyone know if those are just for the fronts, or are they the same for both front and rear? Also, does anyone happen to know the OEM part numbers? For the oil seals in addition to the bearings. Thanks!

The factory service manual will tell you exactly which parts can be reused and what needs to be replaced. The parts catalog will have the part numbers. Send me a PM if you don't have those. Both of those were immeasurably helpful when I redid my front axle bearings/brakes/everything else.

I wrapped up my front wheel bearing replacement this weekend, and found that all four of the old bearings were Koyo brand. I'm assuming this means they were not the original bearings, or is it possible that that's what Mitsubishi used for the OEM bearings?

So I'm about to order parts for my 2004 FG649 and this is the parts list I've come up with. The Timken bearing listed earlier in this thread didn't match what I found on the timken cross-reference list. Can anyone confirm the ones listed below are correct.

Also, does anyone have a alternate part number for the oil seals, it doesn't look like Timken makes one in that size.

I don't need the gasket for the hub if I'm not rebuilding it and just pull it off as a one piece right?

FYI, the front outer bearing part number has been replaced/updated with MK711041.

For the front inners, I went with Koyo 57326. For the front outers, I went with Timken 32011X.

Also, I just re-used the hub cover gaskets. Same truck, btw -- '04 FG649.
