Anyone tried Nu-Ice yet?

I'm really trying to talk myself out of, or maybe into a fridge, I dunno.. But I recently picked up a 2lb Nu-ice ice pack thats rated to retain 0° temp for up to 96 hrs. They also make a 32° pack thats rated for the same 96hrs. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but hope to soon. Most of my trips these days are 3 day weekends so if they work as advertised they should work out perfect. The guy at West Marine said the 0° pack froze a bottle of water in his cooler, I'm gonna try it tonight. Anyone else tried one yet?

Are these reusable? Tried the search function on their website, but could not find the information by using my phone.

Thanks!

Reusable for up to 5 yrs.

They are becoming popular in the offshore fishing crowd, it's not uncommon to use 2-300 lbs of ice on a blue water fishing trip so a few of the 0* packs tossed in can potentially cut that down or at least maintain it it longer. I picked mine up at a local west marine store. I see cabelas and bass pro has them also.

I put my 2lb pack in a soft sided Columbia cooler yesterday at 6pm that had about 1.5 inches of solid ice in the bottom and three room temp bottles of water. The cooler was left indoors at 68*. At 11pm the ice in the bottom had no signs of melting and the three bottles of water were almst frozen solid. The pack was softened but still very cold. I left it to check again this am but forgot before leaving.. The fact that it froze three room temp water bottles in a crappy soft cooler is enough for me to try it further. Ill report back later today.

Well, I'm going to have to start over. I forgot to check it the day after starting my test and by the time I checked it the next day, there was only about 50% of the ice in the bottom left. The ice pack itself was not frozen any longer at that point, just cold. I dropped it in the freezer this AM and will try again over the weekend.

What could go wrong?
I've been using Nu-Ice packs for about six months now. I put all my water bottles in a big soft cooler with a few packs, and the water stays cool to drink for several days with no mess.
I also freeze hamburgers, brats, and lunch meat before the trip and put them in the basket in my ice chest, with a Nu-Ice on top of them. It really slows down the thaw rate. If I have room, I'll put a Nu-Ice or two on top of the ice in the cooler to help the ice last longer.
I've been satisfied with how they work, not so much as a substitute for ice, but to make my ice last.
They are more expensive than the lunchbox ice packs, but they work much, much better.
