Anyone using a Thule Xsporter rack in a 2nd Gen Tacoma?

I'm thinking about getting one for mounting an RTT. This would theoretically allow me to lower the tent below the cab when moving to reduce drag and lower the CG, while still putting the tent above the level of my forehead when set up. From what I have seen though the rack will not lower all the way because the legs hit the wheel wells unless placed fully to the rear of the bed (which then is too far back to mount a 1.6M tent). Anyone have practical experience on this? This is for a 2010 long bed truck.

I was using one of these in a trailer and it supported the weight for the tent fine and I had planned to raise and lower it but I found the real world application to require 4 large dudes and to loosen the brackets and nothing was perfectly square so the legs of the Thule rack would bind as you tried to raise and lower it

The reality is we just left it in the down location with the tent on

I've been using one for awhile now and it works great. I have an 09 Tacoma DCSB with an ARB Simpson III and an ARB 6.5ft awning mounted on mine. I had to cut the legs to get the tent to sit lower in the bed and it works great.

Check my build thread. I have cut the front legs to allow to drop my tent about level with my Bajarack. I think I may trim it one more bit to let it drop further. I put it up high when I have my bikes mounted in back. Love it!
