Anyone using the Redarc Tow Pro Brake Controller

I just bought a 2018 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk for my wife and need a brake controller for my bay boat that has an electric over hydraulic system. I don't want one of the big controller boxes under the dash so I'm looking into the Redarc controller. Does anyone have any reviews or opinions of it?

I just finished installing one in my Tacoma. No real world use yet, as we are starting to get snow here in Canada. Would highly recommend based on install though, you can place the controller and the main box anywhere you'd like as the two are connected with a cat-5 ethernet cable.

Thanks Nated. Install ease and small size is why I'm considering it. I just want to make sure the thing works well before cutting up my wife's $50k car to tow my $80k boat.

Been running one in our 4Runner for the last few years - really easy to install (Redarc now do blanking plates for some switch blanks) and easy to tuck the box away out of sight.

I have one installed in my 2017 Subaru Outback. I even had a few questions on my install and I spoke right to customer service in Australia. It works like it should.

I have the Tow Pro Elite, or whatever they call the upgraded model. I love it! I’ll never buy another Tekonsha controller.

I've got a Tow Pro Elite, had it for over a year now and done ~8k miles towing with it.. I love it, works great.

I have an Elite as well. Installed it back in spring. It was perfect since I could have a nice, clean install. I could never figure out where I would of mounted a regular controller. It works great, and I play back and forth between proportional and user-set. It was installed for a real off-road trip and got the controller and brakes installed on the trailer in time for the trip. I don't have any experience towing other trailers, or with other brake controllers, but so far it works great. The user-set mode was perfect for off-roading and I never felt at all like the trailer was pushing me, but would it of been better or different with a different controller? I have no clue, but I'm extremely happy to have a controller that I could install and hidden away.

I have the elite and have used in on and off road, it works great and I like having the box hidden. It has an off road feature that allows you to set the braking level based on brake application alone and not the accelerometer.

E-trailer listed the Redarc as an off-road controller? What features does it have that make it better off-road?
It's the proportional vs. user set. For off road applications, you'll set the level of braking for your needs (speed, surface material, grade, trailer weight, etc) and then the controller will apply that level of braking when the brakes are applied, rather than it proportionally increasing to the preset amount based on deceleration.
