I just ordered a tuff stuff roof top tent and it will be here next week. This weekend I'm making the mount for it and need to verify some meaurements for the mounting rails. Anyone that has a tent if you could help me out Id appreciate it....

First I want to make sure that if the tent is mounted so it folds out to the side of the vehicle that the mounting rails run front to back?

2nd what is the distance between the two rails?

Thanks for any help!!

Thanks for posting that I appreciate it.

If anyone with the tent can give me the distance between the rails still that would be helpful.

Thanks!

i do not think the RTT mounting rail distance should be a constraint. You have to mount the RTT mounting rails to be perpendicular to the vehicle rails. Therefore, the mounting points are adjustable as the mounting attachments slide along the grooved track until you find the proper separation distance. Hope this makes sense. This video may help.... start at 4:26 in the video:

I have a spare set of rails if anybody need them. Same as all the other Chinese clones

Thanks for the posts.

The rack is all made and welded with the exception of the two cross bars that are tacked in. Tent will be here tomorrow:wings: so Ill just make sure it fits the way I want and then weld the last two bars. I'll post up my impressions after we use it this weekend. Pretty excited and I hope the "cheap" tent still delivers.

I have been a believer in high quality and expensive ground tents, but ****, roof top tents blow those out of the water and are way out of the budget.
