Anything I should do while gas tank is out?

I dropped the gas tank today so I can install L-track in my 01 E350 EB. All four rubber hoses were deteriorating, so I’ll replace those. But is there anything else I should do while it’s out? Are there replacement pads? I don’t know what they’re supposed to look like, but they look like butyl or something and were smashed to next to nothing. But if there’s anything I should do while I’m at it, lemme know...

If nothing else this was a convenient reminder for me to replace the fuel filter in my vehicle for preventative maintenance.

It's an 01…but it only has 71K on it. Yes, it was a PITA to drop…but the one I looked up was almost $350. Do you think I should preemptively replace it at that mileage? All the hoses coming off the fuel tank need to be replaced…but it's looking like those aren't cheap either.

My 03 with the 7.3 SD has two finger filters on the bottom of the fuel pickup. Idk if the gas version is the same but you might check while you have the tank down. You can remove the filters to clean them and mine were very dirty; but of course it's diesel. Also a fairly common problem on that vintage Ford E series is that the fuel pickup tube sometimes will break above the pickup foot which will result in it not being able to extract the last quarter of a tank of fuel. Effectively you'll run out of fuel with a quarter tank showing on the gauge. I was able to find a replacement foot on line that was relatively cheap.

Previous owners of my 84 used self drilling, self tapping screws to hold down a plywood floor. Plus a few more larger ones for various hold downs.

When I swapped out the tank and fuel lines to go with fuel injection I welded up every single hole. No way I would do that with a powder keg mounted under me.
